Chapter 337 I’m Your Huggie
Lucky Draw
In the dead of night, Bethan staggered out of Hugh’s car and immediately recognized the place as the Cavill family’s private airstrip.
Not far off, the rotors of a helicopter were churning through the air, creating a deafening roar.
Jacob, along with several bodyguards, stood respectfully by the helicopter’s hatch, waiting.
Panic welled up in Bethan right away. It was obvious that Hugh was taking her somewhere far away.
No matter what, she couldn’t let him whisk her out of New York.
Taking a quiet, deep breath, Bethan suddenly spun around and tried to get back into the car.
But Hugh stopped her easily and shut the door with a flick of his hand.
Backing away while struggling, Bethan pleaded, “Hugh, I’ve got work tomorrow. Where on earth are you taking me?”
Hugh fixed his intense gaze on Bethan, remaining silent. Then, he grabbed her wrist firmly and started walking toward the helicopter.
Unable to break free, Bethan squatted down.

Hugh, afraid of hurting her, had to stop.

Crouching in front of Hugh, Bethan quivered as she demanded, “What the hell are you up to in the middle of the night?”
Hugh bent down and hauled Bethan to her feet.
With one arm around her waist and the other gripping the back
of her neck, he forced her to look into his eyes.
“What on earth does Calvin have that you like?”
Hugh growled, his voice coming out in a low, strained tone.
“Bethy, tell me what it is. I’ll change myself to be just like him. You can ask anything of me, but you can’t choose him!”
Staring into his eyes at such close range, Bethan was terrified by the madness in them.
Not daring to provoke Hugh further, Bethan decided to back down.
She reached out and took Hugh’s hand, speaking in as calm a voice as she could manage.
“Hugh, calm down. It’s too late now. Let’s go back. We can have a proper talk some other time when you’ve cooled off.”
The panic in Bethan’s eyes tugged at Hugh’s heartstrings.

He gently reached out and stroked her face, using his rough fingertips to wipe away the moisture from the corner of her eye.
However, Bethan didn’t push him away, trying to soothe his frayed nerves.
Hugh kept his eyes locked on Bethan’s face, his voice hoarse but determined. “Bethy, I’ve been holding myself back from seeing you, afraid you’d hate me. But the more I did that, the worse our relationship got.”
Taking the opportunity, Bethan said, “How about we find a place to sit down right now and have a good talk?” As she spoke, she tentatively tried to pull Hugh back.
But Hugh stood his ground, not budging an inch.
Looking at Bethan, he asked, “Bethy, I know I was wrong. I want to make it up to you. Why won’t you even give me a chance?”
Seeing that being soft didn’t work, Bethan got tough.
“Hugh, you really hurt me. Why should I forgive you just
because you said sorry?”
Hugh’s emotions were on the verge of collapse. He leaned in and pulled Bethan into his embrace.
Ignoring her struggles, he held her tightly, his voice a mix of helplessness and caution.

childhood sweethearts, and during our three-year marriage, there were also plenty of blissful moments.
“Bethy, please trust me one more time. I won’t ever make you sad again.”
Trapped in his embrace, Bethan couldn’t break free and could only let Hugh hold her.
“Hugh, the person you love isn’t me, and I’m not the one you wanted to marry. Your so-called happiness and joy probably only come from sleeping with me. You could get that with anyone else. Please, let me go,” she retorted.
“No, it’s not like that!” Hugh was on the brink of a breakdown. “Bethy, I’m begging you. Don’t think of me like this!”
His arms around Bethan tightened involuntarily. “Let’s go home, okay? You’re the only one I’ve ever wanted. I haven’t loved anyone else. It’s always been you!”
Bethan reminded him, “Hugh, you’re about to get engaged to Ms. Potter. We’ll each have our own lives. Be rational and stop this. You’re just causing me trouble.”
“I won’t get engaged to any woman. I only want you. Tell me what I have to do to make you forgive me?” Hugh insisted.
Bethan, still held tightly, tried to persuade him to let go in a softer tone.
“Hugh, you’re usually so composed, noble, proud, and calm 4/6

before. You weren’t like this before. Can you…”
“Before!” Hugh interrupted her, losing control.
He loosened his hold slightly and looked down into Bethan’s eyes, his own bloodshot.
Choking back sobs, he said, “Before, I thought you’d never leave me. Never!”
As they locked eyes, Bethan lowered her gaze.
Once upon a time, even she thought she’d never leave Hugh. Not even in death.
Hugh’s emotions were teetering on the edge of a cliff.
