Chapter 35 Full of Hatred
Even after he did, they’d been in a constant state of fighting or cold war.
She knew better than anyone how often he needed sex. And the past two months without touching her? That only meant one thing-he was getting what he wanted from Megan.
The doorbell rang. Bethan took the food and sat alone at the dining table with her breakfast.
Hugh eventually came down, dressed neatly. His eyes fell on the takeout box in front of her. “Mom called. She wants us to come to Cavill Manor for dinner tonight.”
Bethan wasn’t a great cook. But over the past three years, she had learned to make a few simple meals.
Every time she finished cooking something, she’d rush to present it to him like a little kid showing off. She’d pout and tease until he took at least one bite.
It had never been like this-ordering breakfast just for herself, even though both of them were home.
While Hugh went upstairs to take a call, Bethan slipped out of the house. She made a quick visit to her parents’.
Once in the car, Bethan shut her eyes and took a rest, staying silent throughout the ride. Likewise, Hugh didn’t say a word to her.
He was seemingly chatting with someone on WhatsApp, his eyes glued to his phone screen.
As the car slowly rolled through the gates of Cavill Manor, Bethan wordlessly trailed behind Hugh into the living room.
Harvey, Hugh’s parents, and Gwen were all home.
Spotting Bethan, Gwen quickly got up and whispered a warning, “Grandpa’s in a foul mood. Watch out.”
Hearing a soft scoff from Hugh, Bethan couldn’t help but glance at him.
His jaw was clenched tight, and the look he gave Harvey was full of hatred, as if Harvey were his sworn enemy.
Bethan quietly averted her gaze.
Years ago, Harvey had meddled in Hugh’s relationship with Megan, splitting them up.
As a result, Megan had gone abroad for six years and given birth to a son out of wedlock.
No wonder Hugh resented Harvey so much.
Fiona fell silent.
Bethan stood still, biting her tongue.
She’d been married to Hugh for three years and was well-acquainted with the dynamics of the Cavill family.
Despite his advanced age, Harvey still held absolute sway in the Cavill family. No one dared to oppose his words or decisions.
Ryan was extremely filial and never went against Harvey. He was also overly strict with Hugh.
Fiona was the kindest elder in the family, yet she had little say in family matters.
No matter how Hugh and Gwen was like outside, inside the house they always behaved properly, simply nodding in agreement when the elders spoke
And as for Bethan, a once-wealthy but now down-on-her-luck young woman, she knew her place even better.
In many ways, he resembled them.
If it weren’t for his affair, he wouldn’t have allowed Bethan to take up a job. It was just to placate her and avoid a huge scene.
Logan returned with the whip and stood beside Hugh, hesitating to strike. “Mr. Cavill, just apologize to Sir Cavill. It’ll all be over soon.”
