Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 350

Chapter 350 Keep Hugh in the Loop

Right after Ryan left the ward, Hugh followed suit, his mind seemingly made up.

Fiona, her eyes welling with tears as any mother would when seeing her son in distress, turned to Mason. “Mason, take me to

Bethan.”

Mason, well aware of Fiona’s intentions, tried to reason with her, “It’d be better if I went.”

If Bethan rejected him, it wouldn’t put her in an awkward situation like it would if Fiona went.

After Fiona had reluctantly walked away, Mason made his way

to Bethan’s office.

There, Bethan was engrossed in her work. She noticed him and got up to offer him a drink. “Have a seat, Mason,” she said, her

voice calm.

Mason took a deep breath. “Hugh’s dead-set on leaving the hospital. He’s refusing treatment, he told her.

Bethan’s hands stilled mid-pour.

Then, she set the glass in front of him. “His choice, his problem. It doesn’t concern me,” she stated firmly.

Mason watched her and fell silent.

It was crystal clear that Bethan had moved on from her feelings for Hugh and couldn’t care less about his current state.

As lunchtime rolled around, in the makeshift parking lot outside the hospital, Alina sat in her car.

From afar, she spotted Bethan exiting with her colleagues.

Eagerly, she stepped out, her high heels clicking on the asphalt. But just a few feet in, Jacob intercepted her.

Alina gave him a quizzical look. “Jacob, what on earth are you doing here?”

Jacob shot a quick glance at Bethan and her group. “Ms. Potter, are you here to see Dr. Olsen?”

“Jacob, I don’t need to tell you my business with Dr. Olsen, do I?” Alina’s smile faded.

Jacob shrugged. “You don’t have to tell me, but I’ve got to keep Mr. Cavill in the loop.”

Alina eyed Jacob, then looked at Bethan across the lot. After a brief moment of indecision, she hopped back into her car and drove off.

Two o’clock in the afternoon found Alina at the Cavill Group’s president’s office.

With a knock, she stepped inside.

There sat Hugh, hunched over his desk. As his eyes lifted and landed on her, a shadow fell across his face.

Alina observed him carry on with his work at a leisurely pace, not even bothering to rise. A faint smile appeared on her face.

Casually, she set the files she’d been holding on his desk and propped her hands on the edge. “Just dropped by to talk to Mr. Orion Butler about a project and thought I’d pop in to see how you’re doing,” she said nonchalantly.

Hugh put down his papers and stared at her. “Cut to the chase,” he said bluntly.

Alina circled the desk and stood beside him.

Leaning in, she gazed intently at his face. “I was at the hospital getting some meds for my grandma today. Jacob stopped me out of nowhere. Any idea why?”

Hugh averted his eyes, hiding his inner emotions. “Did he say why?” he asked.

Alina smiled, casting a glance around the office, “Mr. Cavill, if you’re serious about getting back with your ex-wife, I could be your bridge.”

Hugh rose to his feet, his expression icy.

“Ms. Potter, you’re overstepping,” he warned.

Alina casually shrugged, her voice light yet carrying a hint of apology. “Sorry, just blurted it out, you know?”

Hugh, his expression firm, shot back, “Alina, after all these years in business, you should know me. I said no second marriage, and that’s final!”

In mere minutes, the air thickened with unease.

Letting out a soft sigh, Alina smoothly changed the subject. “Mr. Cavill, don’t take it the wrong way. I overstepped. Your mom shared some things about you and asked me to have a word.”

Hugh’s eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze intense.

Noticing his reaction, Alina quickly shifted gears again. “Your ex-wife? She’s a real looker and so driven. If I were a man, I’d be

smitten, too.”

Then, with a more serious tone, she continued, “But think about it, family comes first in life. Since she’s moved on, you should respect that and think about your parents around you.”

Hugh cut her off impatiently. “Didn’t get what I said, huh?”

Alina held her ground, speaking sincerely, “I got it, Mr. Cavill. But I still gotta say, if you really love her, don’t hold her back.”

That comment seemed to strike a nerve.-Hugh’s jaw tightened, and he barked at the assistant by the door, “Show her out!”
