Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 352

Chapter 352 Turn the Tables on Me

With a swift push, Gwen sent Oliver a step back. “What the heck! Why would I ever be into a guy when I’m perfectly fine on my own?”

Oliver, with a curious glint in his eye, probed further, “Come on! You and Mason have been inseparable since you were kids. He keeps saying he wants to play the field, and you’re dead-set against marriage. You two… there’s gotta be something, right?”

Before he could finish his thought, Gwen let out a hearty laugh.

Looking as determined as if she were making a life-changing vow, Gwen explained, “Mason and I are like family. He’s more of a brother to me than my actual one. When I hold his hand, it’s just like touching my own. Zero sparks, you know?”

As she talked, she made gestures to emphasize her point. “And his abs? Feels like running my hand over a cob of corn. Even if I were to take his pants off, my heart wouldn’t skip a beat.

“If I had any romantic interest in him, I’d have snagged him ages ago. No way I’d wait this long.”

Oliver scratched his chin, finding her argument quite convincing.

Meanwhile, hidden in a nearby booth, Mason was far from calm,

Like a brother?

No feeling when holding hands?

Abs like a cob of corn?

Heart rate flat-lining at the thought of taking his pants off?

Bethan, noticing Mason’s distress, gently patted his shoulder in an attempt to soothe him.

Mason shut his eyes, took a deep breath, and thought to himself.

What a dope.

All these years of looking out for her, and this was what he got.

Maybe one day, this silly girl would turn out to be the one to take care of him in his old age.

At the restaurant’s entrance, a tense stand-off was taking place. Jacob, with a nervous gulp, stood in front of Maria, Elsie, and Nola, blocking their way into the restaurant,

Maria, with her pregnant belly prominently on display, peeked through the glass door and caught a glimpse of Bethan.

She puffed up her chest and sneered, “Scared I’ll give that woman a hard time, huh?”

Since Maria was in a delicate condition, Jacob kept a safe

distance and stammered, “Mrs. Field, you don’t want to mess with Dr. Olsen. The consequences are not something you can handle.”

Elsie, ever the instigator, spoke up, “Everyone knows Mr. Cavill is divorced from that bitch. Maria is the lady of the Field family now, and she’s carrying the future of the clan. So what if she gives that woman a piece of her mind?”

Nola, full of bravado, sneered at Jacob, “Listen, Jacob. If you’re trying to suck up to Mr. Cavill, you’d better switch your target to Ms. Potter. Once she marries into the Cavill family, she might just throw you a bone. That Bethan? She’s yesterday’s news, just an ex-wife. She doesn’t mean squat.”

It was crystal clear that the three women had come to pick a fight with Bethan, leaving Jacob in a real bind.

Two bodyguards held Nola and Elsie back, but Jacob didn’t dare touch the pregnant Maria.

Maria sashayed into the restaurant and immediately took a dig at Bethan. “Well, Dr. Olsen, you’re quite the schemer! Even though you’re divorced from Mr. Cavill, you’ve got his lackeys cating out of your hand.”

Bethan and Mason exchanged a knowing look and then got to their feet.

Simultaneously, Gwen and Oliver also rose from their seats.

The four of them eyed each other Gwen, with a pointed finger, 3/6

demanded, “What’s going…”

Mason retorted before she could continue, “What are you doing here?”

Gwen motioned towards Oliver beside her. “I’m here on a blind

date.”

“We’re just here for a bite to eat.” Mason gestured at Bethan.

He then extended a friendly greeting to Oliver, and Gwen quickly made the introductions.

Just then, Oliver checked his phone and, with an apology, excused himself and left.

As soon as Oliver was out of sight, Maria waddled over to the group, her pregnant belly leading the way.

Jacob was well aware that if Bethan found out Hugh had secretly assigned people to watch over her, she’d flatly oppose it. When he saw the situation going from bad to worse, Jacob wasted no time in ordering the bodyguards to let Nola and Elsie go and get out of there.

Nola and Elsie rushed into the restaurant, with Jacob trailing
