Chapter 354 Police Station
Lucky Draw
It was 7 p.m. when the commotion gathered at the police station.
First to arrive was Bradley, seething with rage. Right on his heels came Hugh, followed by Hugh’s parents.
Bradley, his face red with fury, burst out, “Mr. Ryan Cavill, if my wife and kid end up in a bad way, I’ll go to the mat against your Cavill family! I swear it!”
Fiona, quick-witted to defuse the tension, immediately chimed in, “Mr. Field, if it’s truly my daughter who’s at fault, our Cavill family will shoulder all the consequences. No backing down.”
Hugh stood alongside his parents, both of them tight-lipped. His expression was as stormy as the sea on a tempestuous night.
Minutes ticked by, and finally, those who were involved were let
out.
The sight that greeted them was a shocker: Mason and Jacob, looking like they’d been through a war zone, their clothes in tatters and blood smeared across their faces. It left Bradley, Hugh, and his parents gaping in disbelief.
Jacob sized up the situation and sneaked glances at Bradley and Ryan.
Then he sauntered up to Hugh and started his sob story. “Mr. Cavill, you know I was off today. I was just swinging by the diner

to pick up food for my wife. And what do I hear? Mrs. Field and Ms. Davis talking trash about Dr. Olsen. They were hatching this crazy plan to drug her and take compromising pictures to post online. I tried to talk some sense into them, and next thing I know, they’re all over me!”
Bradley’s brows knitted together, and his voice turned sharp. “Bull! That’s not what my wife told me!”
Elsie, emerging right behind Jacob, jumped into the fray. “Mr. Field, don’t buy his lies. He and the Cavill family’s goons were threatening your wife!”
Not one to hold her tongue, Nola pointed at Jacob and let loose. “You’re a liar! Keep spouting that crap, and you’ll never have kids!”
Jacob clamped his mouth shut when he saw Hugh’s stony expression.
Hugh, with a firm hand on Jacob’s shoulder, stated, “You’re an employee of the Cavill Group. I can’t let this slide. Go to the hospital and get checked out. I’ll make sure you get justice.”
Feeling sheepish after causing the ruckus, Gwen hid behind Mason, peeking out like a shy kitten.
Mason, pointing to his battered face, spoke up, “Hey, what about me? I need a check-up, too. Tomorrow, I’ll have my grandma go around and set things straight!”
Bradley watched as the tide of the situation began to turn, his

face alternating between shock and disbelief.

All the while, Hugh’s eyes were fixed on the door. When Bethan finally emerged, he rushed over.
“Bethy.” His heart skipped a beat when he noticed the long
scratch on her face.
Without thinking, he reached out to brush her hair aside, but Bethan turned her head away.
Hugh’s outstretched hand hung in the air for a moment, then slowly retracted. Memories of the vows he’d made to her on the island came flooding back, and his fingers curled slightly.
Ryan, scowling at Bethan, sneered, “It’s always you! Trouble follows you like a shadow!”
Before Bethan could respond, Hugh shot back, “Dad, what are you blabbering about?”
Ryan retorted, “Am I wrong? If it weren’t for her, your sister wouldn’t have gotten into this mess!”
Gwen, loyal to Bethan, stepped forward to clear the air. “Dad, stop blaming the innocent. I just can’t stand Maria. I wanted to give her a piece of my mind!”
Ryan was on the verge of lashing out at his daughter when Fiona stepped in, putting a halt to his impending outburst.
Glancing at his son and daughter, both clearly siding with

Bethan, he bit his tongue and stifled his anger, though it simmered just beneath the surface.

Nola spoke up, her voice brimming with certainty as she addressed Bradley, “Uncle Bradley, Elsie and I were right there. Jacob brought some guys to intimidate us. And it was Ms. Cavill who threw the first punch. There are cameras at the diner entrance and inside. A simple review will set the record straight.”
Elsie jumped in, her tone insistent. “Mr. Field, your wife was nearly beaten to a miscarriage. Can you really just let them get away with this?”
The unwavering determination in Nola and Elsie’s words bolstered Bradley’s resolve.
He was in a bind; he didn’t want to cross the Cavill family, yet he couldn’t simply brush the incident under the rug. Pointing at Bethan, he declared, “Mr. Ryan Cavill, Mrs. Cavill, out of respect for your family, I’m willing to overlook Ms. Cavill’s actions.”
After a brief pause, his gaze shifted to Hugh. “Mr. Cavill, my wife was attacked for no good reason and almost lost the baby. Someone’s gotta take the blame. You can take Ms. Cavill, but your ex-wife…”
Before Bradley could finish his thought, Hugh cut him off sharply. “An ex-wife is still part of my life. Her problems are mine.”
