Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 355

Chapter 355 Resolute

Hugh’s eyes darted between Calvin and Bethan.

Lucky Draw

An impulse welled up in him to dash over and yank Bethan away from Calvin, but he fought it back

Rooted to the spot, his legs felt as heavy as if filled with lead. His hands at his sides clenched involuntarily.

He’d given his word to Bethan that he’d respect her decisions and let her live freely.

So, charging over there was out of the question.

Right then, Hugh was in the throes of an internal battle, and his face had turned a shade of hideousness.

No wonder she’d been so composed; clearly, she’d tipped Calvin off earlier.

After Calvin politely greeted the Cavill family, he walked over to Bradley. “Mr. Field, I’m not sure if Mrs. Field’s claim that Dr. Olsen deliberately injured her will hold up. But if you really let your wife go through with this, I guarantee some members of the Field family will end up spending a long time behind bars.”

Nola pointed at Calvin and shouted, “Bethan’s Mr. Cavill’s ex-wife. Even the Cavill family doesn’t want to protect her. Who do you think you are to interfere?”

“Yeah, Mr. Byron. Mrs. Field is pregnant and hurt pretty badly. You’d better stay out of this. A cast-off woman like her isn’t worth you going to such lengths,” Elsie chimed in.

Bradley eyed Calvin warily. “Mr. Byron, what’s your relationship with Dr. Olsen exactly?”

Calvin looked around at everyone and replied straightforwardly, “Dr. Olsen has no connection with the Cavill family. It’s only natural that they won’t protect her.”

Then, he switched gears and said, “But Dr. Olsen is my son’s godmother. She’s worth me doing anything for.

“Matters related to Dr. Olsen are my matters. Those who are Dr. Olsen’s enemies are my eternal enemies. There’s no need to doubt that.”

Calvin’s stance was clear, yet his choice of words was subtle.

He once again made it clear that Bethan was his son’s godmother, indicating that he’d do anything for her and take on anyone for her sake.

At the same time, he always maintained an appropriate distance in his words and actions towards Bethan, never further clarifying their exact relationship

Calvin turned to Bethan and said, “I’ll wait for you in the car.”

Bethan shook her head. “No need. I’ll go with you.”

After politely saying goodbye to everyone, Calvin and Bethan got into the car and drove off.

Hugh watched as Bethan and Calvin walked side by side right in front of him.

He couldn’t help but take a step forward to stop Bethan, only to be held back by Mason.

Locking eyes with Hugh, Mason saw a pair of listless eyes.

He yanked his hand out of Mason’s grip and staggered toward his own car. He couldn’t hear Fiona’s words of concern, his father’s scolding, or his sister calling him.

When Bethan was in trouble, the first person she’d contacted was Calvin.

Hugh had been right in front of her, yet her eyes only had room for Calvin.

Help and gifts from anyone else were readily accepted, yet from him, she’d take nothing, not even cent.

She could forge warm connections with others, but with him, she maintained a cold distance, never allowing him to get close or engage in further talks.

Bethan remained unmoved by his pain. Instead, she was hell-bent on pushing him away and forcing him to exit her world completely.

So resolute was her stance that not even once would she offer an opportunity for amends.

Noticing Hugh’s off-state, Jacob quickly climbed into the driver’s seat. “Mr. Cavill, let me drive,” he said.

Hugh slumped back against the headrest, closing his eyes wearily. “Take me to the Regal Club,” he murmured.

Jacob shot a worried glance at Hugh, but did as he was told.

At nine in the evening, Calvin safely dropped Bethan off at her place.

Bethan unbuckled her seatbelt and thanked him earnestly, saying, “Mr. Byron, I really owe you one for today. How about I invite you over for dinner some other day?”

Calvin laughed softly at her serious expression. “Dr. Olsen, don’t worry about it. It was a piece of cake for me.”

However, Bethan insisted on showing her gratitude.

Calvin nodded. “Well, if you really want to thank me, could you attend a parent-teacher meeting for my kid next week?” he said half-jokingly.

The light-hearted banter between them put Bethan at ease.

Without any pressure, she readily agreed, patting her chest.

After all, with just a message from her, Calvin had rushed over 4/5
