Chapter 37 Something In The Soup
As she looked back, there was a bit of defiance in Hugh’s decision to marry her.
Harvey disliked Megan for her ordinary family background and broke them up. So, Hugh deliberately married a bankrupt heiress to go against his grandfather.
The more Bethan thought about it, the angrier and sadder she got. Unconsciously, she pressed harder while applying medicine to Hugh’s back.
Hugh winced in pain, and that’s when Bethan realized she’d used too much force.
Just then, Logan knocked on the door and entered. “Mr. Cavill, Mrs. Cavill, you haven’t had dinner yet. Mrs. Fiona Cavill told the kitchen to make soup for you. Have it while it’s hot.”
Bethan tidied up the medicine box and said without any appetite, “I’ve eaten.”
As a traditional medicine student she could smell the faint scent of traditional herbs in the soup, even though it was cooked with chicken and seasoned.
Logan stepped forward, a polite smile on his face. “It’s Mrs. Fiona Cavill’s kind gesture. Have a bit, Mrs. Cavill.”
After that, he picked up the remaining bowl and thrust it in Bethan’s direction. “It’s Mom’s way of showing she cares. Take a sip.”
Seeing Logan lingering in the room and Hugh holding the soup bowl in front of her, Bethan hesitated for a moment and took a few sips.
Logan left the room with the servants contentedly. Bethan changed Hugh into his pajamas and then went into the bathroom.
A few minutes later, Bethan stumbled out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel.
She came to the bed, grabbed Hugh’s arm, and tried to suppress the restlessness inside. “Get up and take me to the hospital quickly.”
If she guessed right, there was an aphrodisiac in the soup.
Before she could finish, Hugh pulled her into his arms.
By the time Bethan realized what was happening, she was pinned under Hugh.
Feeling the heat of Hugh’s body, Bethan had trouble breathing, and her vision of Hugh began to blur. “Calm down. There’s something in the soup we just had.”
Bethan’s long hair spread across the pillow. Under the effect of the “medicine”, she was in a tipsy state, looking incredibly alluring.
