Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 39

Chapter 39 Giving Your Happiness

Tears of despair streamed down Bethan’s face.

Hugh felt a pang in his chest.

He stepped forward to steady her unsteady body. “Let’s go home first.”

Bethan forcefully pulled away from Hugh’s hand and slipped into the study.

With a dull thud, she dropped to the floor in front of Harvey.

Hugh’s eyes widened in shock. “Bethan, what are you doing?”

Bethan pushed away Hugh’s outstretched hand and grabbed Harvey’s trouser legs tightly with both hands.

She pleaded, “Harvey, Ryan, I’m begging you to let Huggie be with Megan and her son. Let us get a divorce!”

Hugh’s eyes widened sharply. He yanked Bethan up. “What are you talking nonsense about!”

Bethan struggled helplessly.

After shoving Hugh away, she fell to the floor again.

Her voice trembling, she pleaded, “Harvey, Ryan, I know the Olsen family went bust and we’ve put the Cavills in the red big-time. I’m not backing out on this debt. I’ll write an IOU, and I’ll get my parents and my brother here to do the same. I’ll hand over my paycheck card. I swear I’ll find a way to pay back that billion dollars.”

Hugh stared hard at Bethan’s ashen face.

Thinking she might’ve heard all he’d just said, he stumbled, barely keeping his feet.

Harvey looked down at Bethan with a haughty air and demanded, “You really wanna divorce Hugh?”

Bethan raised her hand and swore, “I swear. After the divorce, I won’t say a single bad word about the Cavill family. Or you can hold a presser. I’ll say I was the one who cheated and caused this split.

“You can rest easy. I’ll leave with nothing. Not a single cent from Huggie!”

“Bethan!” Hugh yanked her up roughly.

His eyes bloodshot, he grabbed her shoulders tightly. “You even know what you’re saying?!”

Bethan nodded like crazy in her panic.

As tears streamed down her face, she said, “I promise, after the divorce, I’ll beat it and never mess with your life again!”

Without a word of explanation, Hugh stepped forward and tried to hug her. “Bethan, knock it off,” he said softly.

Bethan completely lost it. She shrieked and dodged Hugh’s outstretched hands, “I’m not going back with you. I want a divorce!”

Ignoring Bethan’s struggles, Hugh picked her up and strode out of the study.

“What’s going on?” Fiona and Gwen were anxiously waiting in the living room.

They were startled to see Hugh walking out of Harvey’s study with a crying Bethan in his arms, his face grim.

“Mom, we’re going home first,” Hugh said, not giving Bethan a chance to speak and taking her away forcefully.

Fiona sensed something was off and rushed to the study.

Fiona just nodded, silent.

Harvey regarded the family’s stability and the Cavill family’s reputation as the top priorities.

Even if the child was truly Hugh’s, Harvey wouldn’t acknowledge it.

Ryan was confused. “Dad, the Olsen family has gone bankrupt. Bethan has been married to Hugh for three years without having a child or achieving anything in her career. She’s no different from Megan. We can find Hugh a new marriage partner.”

Harvey turned and sat back in his chair. “Megan comes from an ordinary background. She’s vain and can’t be presentable. Even if that child is Hugh’s, she can’t enter our Cavill family.”
