Chapter 40 Emergency Contraceptive Pills
Ryan was confused. “Dad, the Olsen family has gone bankrupt. Bethan has been married to Hugh for three years without having a child or achieving anything in her career. She’s no different from Megan. We can find Hugh a new marriage partner.”
Harvey turned and sat back in his chair. “Megan comes from an ordinary background. She’s vain and can’t be presentable. Even if that child is Hugh’s, she can’t enter our Cavill family.”
Fiona chimed in, “Harvey, you don’t want Hugh to divorce Bethan because you want Bethan to be a shield to stop Hugh from bringing Megan and her son into the Cavill family. But it’s unfair to Bethan.”
Ryan retorted, “She’s just a fallen heiress. Marrying Hugh is a blessing she won’t get in several lifetimes. What more fairness does she want?”
Harvey said, “Although the Olsen family has fallen, Bethan was educated at the top institutions, learned the most proper social etiquette, and mingled in the top-tier social circles. In terms of knowledge, vision, and upbringing, she’s better than Megan. It’s just that Hugh has spoiled her in these years of marriage.”
Harvey then looked at Fiona. “Before we deal with Megan and her child, Bethan must stay by Hugh’s side. Teach her well later so that she won’t disgrace our family and uphold our family traditions.”
Fiona left the study with a heavy heart.
She couldn’t, like Harvey and her husband, discuss her son’s marriage from a businessman’s perspective, focusing on interests.
She also didn’t expect that the woman her son loved had disappeared for six years and now came back with a child.
Before figuring out if the child was really her grandson, she couldn’t meet Megan yet.
Fiona reminded her daughter, “Gwen, there’s a problem with Hugh and Bethan’s marriage. Spend more time with Bethan and comfort her these days.”
Gwen, who had been eavesdropping at the door, replied, “Got it, Mom.”
Gwen went back to her room, her mind in turmoil.
She was worried that Hugh might really divorce Bethan and bring Megan and her kid into the family.
Gwen was so worried that she called Bethan.
Bethan’s phone kept ringing in her bag, but she was in no mood to answer it.
Since getting in the car, Hugh had been holding Bethan tightly in his arms. No matter how much she cried and struggled, Hugh wouldn’t let go.
After a long-drawn-out struggle on the way, both of them looked a mess.
Through the car window, Bethan saw a pharmacy on the
roadside and suddenly remembered something. “I need to go to the restroom.”
Hugh told the driver to pull over and tidied Bethan up a bit. “I’ll go with you.”
They got out of the car, and Hugh held Bethan’s hand without letting go.
