Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 391

Chapter 391 Drunken?

Two nights later, to express her gratitude to Tristen for putting in a word at the auction house and arranging that internship at the Dixon family’s hospital, Bethan took her out for a bite.

Around nine, as they strolled out of the diner, there was Mason hopping out of his car.

He gave Tristen a quick nod and then, all flustered, said he needed a word with Bethan.

Taking the hint, Tristen split.

Bethan was set on going straight home, but Mason told her Gwen was waiting for her in a private room at the Regal Club and practically dragged her there.

As soon as she stepped into the room, the stench of booze hit her.

Gwen jumped up and greeted her, “Hey, Bethan! We’re just having a little get-together. Hugh’s three sheets to the wind.”

Bethan glanced at Hugh, who sprawled on the couch, looking like he was out for the count.

Exchanging a sly look with Mason Gwen grabbed her pux Close and bolted.

Mason tried to explain, “Sorry, Bethan. Hugh’s been shouting your name since he got plastered. There’s a private suite for him upstairs. You two are practically married, so staying to look after him for the night ain’t no biggie.”

With that, he shut the door and hustled Gwen out.

Bethan plopped down next to Hugh.

She knew he could hold his liquor, and he usually steered clear of these kinds of bashes.

Drunk?

Calling my name?

Yeah, right.

She cracked her knuckles and gave Hugh a little nudge.

When he didn’t budge, her hand snaked down to his thigh, and she gave it a good twist.

Hugh’s brows shot up in pain.

Bethan stood up, her face like thunder.

But Hugh grabbed her wrist.

She stared him down, yanked her hand back, and said, “Giving up the act?”

Looking up at her intently, Hugh slowly got up.

Standing in front of her, he mumbled, “I really was drunk.”

Bethan gave him a knowing look and asked, “Alright, whose bright idea was this?”

After a moment of staring contest, Hugh hung his head and muttered, “Mason.”

That single word ratted both himself and Mason out.

Bethan let out a short laugh.

His face turned gloomy as he firmly reminded his mother word by word, “Mom, I’m about to tie the knot with Bethy. Can you just drop it about that woman?”

Fiona pointed her finger at Hugh’s nose. “Do you think I want to bring her up? Bethy’s been going after you for ages. If you didn’t have feelings for Megan, would you treat Bethy like this?”

Hugh responded with a tired look, dismissing her claim, “Mom, stop making wild guesses. There’s no such thing.”

Letting out a disdainful snort, Fiona gave him a warning stare. “You must’ve pulled some strings to make Bethy call off the wedding so you can marry Megan at the end of the month! That’s your little plan, isn’t it?”

Hugh blurted out without hesitation, “If I ever do get married, it’ll be to Bethan!”

Not wanting to face more of his mother’s inquisition, Hugh quickly made his exit from the Cavill Manor.

Standing at the staircase, Fiona watched her son’s departing figure. A hint of concern clouded her eyes.

Over the years, She was well aware or Detail S love for Hugh.

And she knew just as well how Hugh treated Bethan.

She’d been taken aback when Hugh first proposed the idea of marrying Bethan.

But now, with Bethan suddenly backing out at the verge of getting the marriage license, she was even more surprised.

After a moment of contemplation, Fiona had an idea. She instructed Logan to prepare some presents and decided to pay a visit to the Olsen family.

It was around nine in the morning when she arrived at the Olsens’.

Bethan’s parents greeted her warmly and invited her into the living room.

Cutting straight to the chase, Fiona said, “I’m here because I’m a bit worried. Hugh and Bethy’s wedding is just around the corner, but they haven’t gotten the marriage license yet. Did they have a tiff?” special offer: 800 bonus free to you
