Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 397

Chapter 397 Look Into Megan

Wordlessly, Hugh shed his coat.

It was he who’d put forward the idea of marriage in the first place.

But now, with the wedding abruptly called off, he was left to deal with the mess and soothe the elders’ ire.

Fiona rushed to intervene, “Can’t we sort this out like adults? Using a whip won’t solve anything. You’re his father, act like it!”

Jabbing a finger at Fiona, Ryan fumed, “Soft-hearted moms raise spoiled brats. You’ve coddled them too much.”

Then, turning to Hugh, he declared, “I’m just showing him how to act like an heir!”

On Ryan’s signal, Logan laid into Hugh with the whip.

After a few lashes, Hugh’s white shirt was marked with angry red welts.

Ryan motioned for Logan to stop. “One last chance. Marriage or engagement?”

As he rose to his feet, his eyes darted between his grandfather and father.

“The Cavill family has options. If I’m not your pick, find someone else.”

The veiled threat hung in the air, making everyone in the room go pale.

In a fit of rage, Ryan slapped Hugh across the face. “Say that again, and you’ll regret it!”

Hugh’s head snapped to the side, a trickle of blood oozing from the corner of his mouth. He casually wiped it away.

“I’ll say it as many times as it takes. It’s the truth.”

Staring his father down, he enunciated every word, “I’m not your only son. Keep meddling in my marriage and blaming the Olsen family, and I’ll give up the heir position.”

With that, Hugh picked up his coat and strode out of the Cavill Manor.

Harvey was so enraged that he slumped onto the sofa.

Fuming with a mix of anger, impatience, and helplessness, not uttering a single extra word.

Ryan paced the room, muttering, “The wedding’s in three days, and he’s backing out of both the marriage and the engagement. What the hell are we gonna do?”

Fiona offered a calm perspective. “Hugh’s handled tough situations since taking over the company. If you trust him to run it, let him handle this.”

She’d endured for years for her children’s future.

“This time, Hugh smoothed things over for you without blaming you. Next time, think before you act. No more being willful!” Vincent reminded his daughter.

Bethan nodded obediently.

She figured Hugh must have been reading from a prepared speech from the company. He said those things just to save the Cavill family’s reputation.

Thankfully, Ryan and Harvey had looked down on the Olsen family after their bankruptcy and insisted on not revealing the bride’s identity before the wedding.

It had saved her a lot of trouble now.

Just then, the phone charging in the living room rang.

After answering Tristen’s call, Bethan rushed out.

At ten in the morning, the two stepped out of the auction house, and Bethan felt a huge weight lifted off her shoulders.

Tristen couldn’t help smiling at Bethan’s beaming face. “See you on Monday,” he said.

Bethan watched Tristen drive away, then quickly clutched her 1.6 billion dollars. It was more than enough to pay off what she owed Hugh, with a tidy sum left over.

There were still two days until she started her internship at the Dixon family’s hospital on Monday. She’d move her parents and brother out of Hugh’s house tomorrow.
