Chapter 405 Invite
The day Hugh returned from his business trip, Fiona, following Harvey’s orders, invited Alina and Ivory to visit Cavill Manor.
Harvey had also told Logan to personally pick Hugh up from the airport and bring him back to the manor.
By evening, Logan entered the living room with his head bowed. “Sir Cavill, Mr. Cavill…”
Fiona noticed his hesitation and, in front of Alina and Ivory, waved a hand dismissively. “No strangers here-speak plainly.”
Even so, Logan kept his voice as low as possible. “Ms. Fiona, Mr. Cavill went straight to Ms. Olsen’s house right after getting off the plane.”
Fiona shot Alina and Ivory an apologetic look, while Ryan’s expression darkened instantly.
“Go get that bastard back here right now!” he snapped.
Logan looked troubled, unable to respond.
Alina stepped in to ease the awkwardness, her tone polite and poised. “Mr. Ryan Cavill, my parents and I are thrilled to be invited to Cavill Manor. Mr. Cavill can tend to his business-no need to rush back on our account.”
Her words were graceful, but her expression betrayed her unease.
Hugh had known she was coming to the manor, yet he’d gone straight to the Olsens.
His attitude toward her couldn’t have been clearer.
It seemed she shouldn’t hold out much hope for the engagement between her and Hugh.
Once Alina and Ivory left, Harvey slammed his coffee cup down in anger. “The heir to Cavill Group, running after a bankrupt family-absolutely disgraceful!”
Ryan picked up his phone, calling Hugh personally to tell him to come home at once.
At the same time, Hugh received his father’s call and left the Olsen family’s house.
Settling into the car, Jacob couldn’t help but speak up, “Mr. Cavill, didn’t you say you’d wait for Ms. Olsen to get off work before leaving?”
Hugh clenched the jewelry box in his hand, his voice cold. “Head to Cavill Manor.”
Jacob quickly told the driver to start the car.
Shortly after Hugh left, Bethan arrived home from work.
Spotting the expensive nutritional supplements lined up in the living room, she turned to her parents. “Dad, Mom, did we have guests today?”
Vincent and Miranda exchanged a look.
Miranda sighed, shaking her head, “Hugh brought all this. Your dad and I told him we didn’t want it, but he insisted on leaving it here.”
The gifts were already there, and Hugh was gone-Bethan didn’t push the issue further.
Vincent added, “The developer wanted to give it to us for free because of Hugh, but we refused. We just asked for a discount off the market price-we never expected them to slash it by half.”
Bethan felt conflicted, but seeing her parents’ excited, hopeful faces, she made up her mind. “If you like it, then buy it.”
Regardless of whose favor it was, a half-price discount was too good to pass up.
Besides, her parents had raised Hugh like their own child-he owed them this much.
Everything was settled, and the three of them left the sales office, deciding to move on the 20th of this month.
It was a Friday-Bethan took the day off work to help.
By afternoon, when she arrived home, Hugh and Barry were on the balcony, carrying her potted plants.
Pausing at the balcony door, Bethan watched-once, Hugh had been untouchable, above doing such menial work.
If his grandfather and father saw him now, they’d be livid.
Hugh turned, his gaze softening with caution when he saw her.
Before Bethan could speak, Vincent walked over. “Bethy, Hugh’s been working so hard helping with the move. We’re almost done-you and your mom go buy some groceries and cook in the new house, and tonight Hugh and I will have a drink.”
No sooner had he finished than Logan knocked at the door, entering with a formal expression. “Mr. Cavill, Sir Cavill is hosting a dinner at the hotel tonight. He specifically invited Ms. Olsen and her family to catch up.”
