Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 409

Chapter 409 Spark of Inspiration

A fierce glare shot from Bethan’s eyes as she snapped at Hugh, “No way I’m up for it!”

Hugh couldn’t hold back his urge and reached for Bethan’s hand.

All he wanted was to draw closer, to wrap her in his arms.

With the impulse gnawing at him, he murmured in a voice laced with persuasion, “Come on, Bethy. How about we find a cozy spot to have a heart-to-heart?”

Bethan quickly caught on to what Hugh was up to and smoothly shifted her body to dodge him.

As she stared at Hugh, a sudden spark of inspiration lit up her mind.

She’d just concocted a brilliant scheme to send Megan and her son packing back home.

Suppressing the flutter in her heart, Bethan put on a calm front and told Hugh, “Moved in yesterday and haven’t had a chance to fix anything to eat. Fancy accompanying me to the seafood. market? We can chat on the way.”

Without a second thought, Hugh jumped at the offer

Stepping out of the house, Bethan called out, “Mom, Hugh and I are off to the seafood market. Be right back!”

Once they were out of sight, the three left in the living room were left scratching their heads.

Barry turned to his parents and said, “I thought Bethan said she was done with Hugh yesterday?”

Miranda looked at her husband questioningly. “Do you think they’ve made up?”

Equally confused, Vincent replied, “Let’s have a word with Bethy after Hugh leaves tonight.”

Forty minutes on, they arrived at the bustling city-center seafood market.

The moment they strolled in, they became the center of attention.

Bethan’s beauty was striking, her smile as sweet as honey, and Hugh was the epitome of charm and sophistication.

People couldn’t help but steal glances at the good-looking pair. Bethan paid no heed to the envious gazes and bravely plowed through the fishy odor, leading Hugh around to pick the best seafood.

Hugh accidentally stepped into a puddle, and his polished leather shoes got soaked. Automatically, he pulled out a tissue, but when his eyes landed on Bethan, who was busy haggling with a vendor, he simply stuffed it back into his pocket.

Bethan pointed across the market. “Let’s check that side out. Maybe we’ll score better prices there.”

Hugh just nodded.

Being asked by Bethan to tag along was like a dream come true, so he wasn’t about to complain.

He’d happily follow her around for the whole day if she’d let him.

While Hugh was lost in his thoughts, Bethan was on a mission.

In her past life, Megan had masterminded a play to become Hugh’s savior during his junior year in college, with the whole Ridley family in on it.

So, she was certain they all knew Hugh.

She remembered that Nola’s parents had a seafood stall here.

In her previous life, Nola and Jasper had worked here since they had no other jobs.

Even though they might not know her yet, they’d definitely recognize Hugh.

Not long after, Bethan zeroed in on Nola.

Bethan shook her head. “That’s way too much. We’ll never finish it.”

Hugh waved it off. “If we can’t eat it all, we can share with the neighbors or relatives.”

Bethan gave a small nod and then pointed to a king crab. “This one’s not bad, either.”

Hugh frowned slightly. “This one’s a bit puny. We saw a whopper on the way here. Let’s go back and get that one.”

“Strange they don’t have any sea bass here,” Bethan murmured.

Hugh took out a handkerchief and gently wiped the moisture from Bethan’s hand. “No worries, we’ll check out another stall.”

Meanwhile, Nola watched Hugh, dressed in expensive-looking clothes and spending money like water, being so attentive to

Bethan.

Jealousy gnawed at her, and she stamped her foot in annoyance.

Making an excuse that she wasn’t sure about the prices, Nola sent her parents to handle the packing. Then she pulled Jasper aside.

Jasper’s voice quivered with excitement. “That guy is the heir of the Cavill family!”

Nola shot him a glare. “Of course I know! I’m not blind.”

Then, she nudged Jasper. “Your sister was so stupid. I told her not to mess up and secretly marry that guy first. But did she listen? She blew a golden opportunity.

“I’m calling Megan right now.”

Unable to sit still any longer, she stormed into the room.
