Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 411

Chapter 411 For My Own Good?

In an instant, the atmosphere soured, and everyone’s expressions shifted uneasily.

Suddenly, a sharp smack echoed through the room.

Ryan, enraged, lashed out with a powerful slap across Hugh’s face.

“All this I’ve done is for your own good, you ungrateful

scoundrel! And here you are, siding with outsiders!” he roared, his voice booming.

Hugh’s head snapped to the side. The stark red marks of Ryan’s fingers stood out against his skin, and a trickle of blood oozed from the corner of his mouth.

Fiona, without a word, shot a quick glance at Harvey before stepping between Ryan and Hugh, blocking her husband from getting any closer to Hugh.

Slowly regaining his composure, Hugh straightened up and let out a cold laugh.

For my good?

He had heard that same old line since he was a kid.

He was sick of it

Then, pointing at Ryan accusingly, Hugh retorted, “The Olsen family might be bankrupt, but they’re kind and sincere to

You, though, are cold-always on guard, controlling, and scheming against your own son!”

Ryan’s hands shook with fury. “You…” he stammered, unable to find the right words at first.

Hugh continued, his voice filled with indignation. “You had an affair and kept a bastard son to split the family fortune. Is that for my good?

“You’ve never respected Mom. Is that for my good?

“And because of you, this family has been a mess. There’s no warmth. Is this your idea of ‘for my good”?”

Ryan was left speechless, his mouth agape.

Hugh sneered, “I was born to be the heir, to hold up the Cavill family’s power. I’m just a tool for you and Grandpa to make money. You’ve never treated me like family!”

Ryan stood there, his face flushed with anger, his chest rising and falling rapidly.

After a moment of seething silence, he suddenly exploded. “Who put these crazy thoughts in your head?”

Fiona gave Ryan a look of utter disbelief.

He had driven his own son to such an extent, yet Ryan showed no sign of remorse at all.

Fiona cut in, “He’s not a little kid. He’s twenty-seven. Every word he said comes from his heart. Instead of taking responsibility, you’re trying to blame others. Didn’t you raise him this way?”

Ryan retorted, his voice still heated, “Look at how he’s talking to me!”

Fiona shot back, “Respect goes both ways. Even if you’re his father, you can’t have him spied on all the time!”

Ryan insisted, “I did it all for his good! If I didn’t see him as my son, why would I leave the Cavill family’s fortune to him?”

Hugh scoffed, “You keep saying that, but is it really in my hands? If you don’t trust me, don’t put me in this position. I’m done with your control. Since you don’t trust me, pick another heir. I’ll walk away empty-handed!”

“You dare to threaten me?” Ryan shouted, raising his hand to strike again.

Fiona slowly got up.

After a quick glance at Harvey, she pointed at Ryan and declared, “Ryan, I’m warning you. Over the years, the Kroos family and the Cavill family have shared weal and woe. I have contributed to what the Cavill family is today!

“I’ve put up with you all these years for our children. Do you really think I’m afraid of you?”

Fiona strode up to Ryan, looking him straight in the eye.

“Ryan, if you dare to undermine our interests, I’ll make you regret it at all costs!”

After casting another look at Harvey, Fiona swept out of the room.

After Fiona left, Ryan stood there, speechless for a long while.

How dare they all threaten me?

Harvey, who had kept quiet until then, scolded Ryan, “Don’t even think about replacing the heir!”

Ryan looked chagrined. All his previous arrogance vanished as he spoke to Harvey, “Dad, I just said that in the heat of the moment.”

Harvey warned gravely, “Hugh has the backing of the Kroos family, one of the eight prominent families, and his blood-related uncle James. Think carefully about the consequences!”

Ryan’s temper began to cool. “Dad, I just want Hugh to stay away from the Olsens and find a well-matched heiress later. It’s all for his own good. But look at how he treats me.”

Harvey’s eyes, though cloudy, were still sharp. “The kids are grown-up. You should rein in your temper and stop lashing out at them.”

Ryan insisted, “Hugh has always been like me. His recent change must be because of the Olsens’ influence!”

Harvey said, “No matter who’s put ideas in his head, he’s your son and the most suitable heir for the Cavill Group. Win his heart back, and no one can drive a wedge between you two.”
