Yvonne settled the bill and, arm-in-arm with Bethan, they left the stall chatting and laughing.

No sooner had they walked away than Nola flung her water-draining basket to the ground with a loud thud.

Jasper, looking as meek as a lamb, responded, “Megan said she’s still not divorced and flat broke. She wants to get some more cash from Colin before coming home.”

Nola, spitting mad, retorted, “She’s had the baby. If she could’ve gotten the money, she’d have done it ages ago. What’s she been waiting for?”

The mention of money made Nola’s eyes sparkle. “Remember when Megan came up with that plan to save Hugh? We all qhipped in. After a year of dating, I told her to get knedдp58 and secretly tie the knot. But what does she de? That old just writes her a check and ships her off abroad.”

Jasper stood there, looking like a fish out of water, head down. “Megan’s already had a kid. The Cavill family is the top family in New York. There’s no way they’ll take a woman with a child.”

Nola reached out and tweaked Jasper’s ear. “Didn’t you hear what those two girls were saying? Hugh has had a huge falling-out with his family and called off the wedding. He must be waiting for Megan to come back!

“Who cares if Megan’s been with a guy and had a baby? As long as Hugh doesn’t give a hoot, she still has a shot at marrying into that rich family.

“If Megan sticks to her story that Hugh’s grandfather forced her abroad, who can prove her wrong?

“Guys are such suckers. They always want what they can’t have. Once Megan’s back, and Hugh thinks she was pushed around by his grandpa, forced into marriage, and having a

baby because of his grandpa, he’ll be eaten up with guilt. Any little bit of compensation from him would set us up for life!

“This is a done deal. You gotta listen to me. Get Megan back before that woman’s birthday. She has to meet Hugh then. We can’t let some other chick steal the show.”
