Following the sound, everyone, including Bethan, turned to look.

"Mr. Cavill's been keeping this under wraps. We've been around him all the time, and we never knew there was someone else besides Bethan."

The gossip got wilder.

Fiona, standing beside Bethan's parents, wore a gloomy expression.

Sidling up behind Hugh, Mason whispered, "Hugh, what's she doing here?"

Hugh's eyes were fixed on Bethan.

He pressed his lips and just stared.

Bethan felt a twinge of unease under his intense gaze.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked.

Hugh's eyes narrowed. "Everyone's wondering who she is. How come you're not?"

Bethan pointed at Megan, who'd reached Hugh. "A-A friend you invited?"

Something seemed off about Hugh's reaction.

Shouldn't he be over the moon and rush to hug Megan?

They stared at each other closely.

Instinctively, Hugh looked away and then shifted his attention to Megan.
