Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 44

Chapter 44 I Regret

Pushing Hugh away, Bethan ran off.

The sight of Bethan dashing towards the escalator sent a jolt through Hugh. His heart skipped a beat, and without a second thought, he took off in hot pursuit.

“Bethan!” Hugh blocked her at the escalator entrance. “Tell me where you want to go and I’ll take you there.”

Bethan was out of control.

Ignoring the strange looks from the people around, she struggled and dodged. “Help!”

Hearing her scream for help, Hugh felt a pang in his chest.

Gwen finally caught up in her high heels. She protected Bethan and pushed Hugh. “Hugh, let go! Bethan doesn’t want you to touch her.”

Mason came back with the drinks. “Hugh, what are you…”

Mason glanced at the women’s products section behind Hugh, put down the drinks in his hand, and scratched his head anxiously.

Seeing Mason, Bethan felt like she’d found a savior. She cried and pleaded with him, “Mason, please take me away from here!”

Mason put down his handbag and rushed to support Bethan, but Hugh wouldn’t let go.

He pushed Mason away with one hand and put his arm around Bethan’s waist. “I’ll take her home.”

Mason angrily pushed Hugh and tried to pull Bethan away. “Can’t you see she doesn’t want to see you?”

As Gwen was on the verge of tears, she stepped forward and pushed Hugh. “Hugh, Bethan is like this because of you. Can you just let go?”

The chaos was too much for Bethan to bear.

She struggled with all her might and shook off both Hugh and Mason’s hands.

Due to the force of her struggle, she lost her balance as she got free,.

Hugh was a split second too late. “Bethan!”

Amid the gasps and screams of the onlookers, Bethan stumbled and rolled down the escalator.

Bethan was rushed to the emergency room.

Luckily, when she fell down the escalator, there were two guys below who managed to catch her

As a result, she was fortunate to only have a few bruises and scrapes.

Physically, she was fine. But after a series of emotional hits, she was on the verge of a breakdown.

Hugh was so worried that he asked the doctor to keep her under observation for 12 hours.

In the corridor, Mason stopped Hugh. “What the hell are you doing, Hugh? You just admitted your relationship with Megan and her kid at Cavill Manor, and now Bethan sees you buying sanitary pads for Megan. What’s going on?

“Is it that in the whole world, only Megan gets her period? You’re making such a big deal out of it!”

“I was on my way, and she called, saying she needed them right away. I just said yes without thinking,” Hugh replied, really frustrated.

Mason shot back, “You always say yes when she asks you to pick her up at the airport. You say yes when she cries in front of yo and says no one takes care of her. You even say yes when she asks you not to tell anyone about the kid’s identity. Why are you so pig-headed with Bethan?”

Hugh frowned. “When have I been like that with Bethan?”

“Didn’t you use money to pressure her?” Mason retorted.

Hugh’s face hardened.

Mason continued, “She asked me to borrow a billion dollars so she could divorce you. If you hadn’t pushed her too far, would she have come to me?”

Hugh stared at the ward door, his hand gripping the phone tightly.

Inside the ward, Bethan’s emotions finally broke loose.

All she could think about were the hurtful words Hugh had said in the study at Cavill Manor.

He’d firmly told his family that the woman he wanted and had always loved was Megan, not her.
