Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48 Stuck With Me for Life

Hugh sighed, “Did Bethan know you were coming to see me?”

Barry, held by Mason, lashed out with a kick at Hugh. “You don’t have the right to talk about Bethan. I’ll pay the money back, even if I have to sell my blood. I’ll get Bethan a divorce from you!”

Hugh frowned, looking exhausted. He said to Barry firmly, “Barry, Bethan’s stuck with me for life. I’m not divorcing her.”

He told Mason to let go of Barry and then grabbed Barry’s arm. “Come on, I’ll drive you home.”

In an instant, Barry swept his leg at Hugh’s head. Hugh tilted his head and blocked the kick with his hand.

He pinned Barry’s shoulder, leaving him no room to fight back. “You’re a good fighter, but you’re still no match for me,” he said.

“Damn you, Hugh!”

Just then, Bethan walked in and saw Hugh holding Barry in a tight grip.

Hugh released Barry as soon as he saw Bethan.

Bethan rushed forward, pushed Hugh hard, and pulled her brother behind her.

She checked Barry for injuries. “Barry, are you okay?”

Barry, tall and lanky, stood protectively in front of his sister, looking both docile and fierce. “Bethan, when I’m older, I’ll teach him a lesson for you.”

At that moment, Miranda and Vincent walked in and pulled their children away.

Seeing Bethan leaving with her parents, Hugh felt a twinge in his chest.

He stepped forward and grabbed Bethan’s wrist. “Bethan.”

Bethan looked up at him. “Hugh, I’ll stay at my parents’ for a while. I’ll pay you back as soon as I can and get a divorce. You think about your concerns and let me know. I’ll do my part.”

Hugh stared at Bethan’s determined face and slowly let go of her wrist.

Frightened, Gwen quickly put some distance between herself and Hugh. “Bethan, it was Hugh who messed up. You’re not gonna ignore me, too, are you?”

Bethan shot Gwen a reassuring look. “Gwen, even if I divorce Hugh, we’ll be friends for life.”

As Bethan prepared to leave with her brother and parents, she didn’t forget to bid farewell to Mason. “Mason, we’re heading off first.”

Mason and Gwen saw them out all the door.

After Bethan left, Gwen couldn’t stand the sight of Hugh. In a fit of anger, she snatched her bag and stormed out.

Once everyone had gone, Mason couldn’t help but ask Hugh, “Bethan sounded pretty set on that divorce just now. Did she get the money?”
