Chapter 53 Hugh And I Have A Child
Fiona put down her hands and leaned back in the chair. “Ms. Ridley, you can’t have it all. Six years ago, when you took 60 million dollars from Hugh’s grandfather and went abroad, you lost the right to marry into our family. Even if my son gets divorced someday, it won’t be you and your son joining the Cavill family.”
Megan’s gaze was evasive. “Mrs. Fiona Cavill, I did that for Hugh’s future. If Sir Cavill really kicked Hugh out penniless, gave the inheritance to that illegitimate son, and let him struggle on his own from scratch outside, you wouldn’t be okay with it, either.”
Fiona stood up. “Save those lines for Hugh. I’m just here to give you a heads-up.”
Megan stood up, too. “Lay it on me, Mrs. Fiona Cavill.”
Fiona said, “If my son and his wife don’t divorce, the elders in our Cavill family can overlook you and your son. But if they split up because of you two, I’ll be the first to come after you!”
After that, Fiona picked up her bag and headed for the door.
Megan stood there for a while before snapping out of it.
She chased after Fiona to the entrance, “Mrs. Fiona Cavill, we’re both women. Why are you making my life so hard? Besides, Hugh and I have a child. If you mess with us, Hugh won’t just stand by!”
The driver opened the car door. Fiona looked back at Megan. “If that day comes, I’m really looking forward to seeing what my own son will do to me for your sake!”
Megan never anticipated that even after Hugh had flung the paternity test report before the Cavill family elders, they still wouldn’t accept her and her son.
To make matters worse, Fiona had issued threats.
After watching Fiona drive off, Megan tearfully called Hugh.
In the evening, Hugh returned to the Cavill Manor.
There, Fiona and her daughter were arranging flowers in the living room.
Hugh stepped forward. “Mom, why’d you go see Megan?”
Fiona, busy with the flowers, retorted, “What else did she tell you?”
Hugh paused for a moment, then kept silent.
Gwen sneered, “Hugh, did that Megan run to you crying again?”
Hugh plopped down on the sofa. As he glanced at the haphazardly arranged flowers in the bucket, irritation welled up inside him. “Mom, I’ve made it clear. I can handle my own stuff. Quit meddling, will you?”
Fiona wiped her hands, grabbed a voice recorder from the coffee table drawer, and tossed it at Hugh.
Fiona fixed her son with a serious look. “Clean your ears and listen to this before you say another word.”
Before Hugh could respond, Fiona added, “I’ve thought it through. If you really wanna divorce Bethy, I won’t stop you.”
She turned around, fished out a bank card from her bag, and threw it at Hugh.
