Chapter 54 Come Upstairs With Me
In the ward, Megan quickly deleted all the conversations on the voice recorder.
She carefully wrapped it in a tissue and tossed it into the trash
can.
Hugh couldn’t have listened to the recorder yet, or he would’ve found out about the sixty-million-dollar incident six years ago.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have rushed over so frantically and left without a single question.
As the saying went, a silent enemy was the most dangerous.
She’d underestimated Fiona.
Early the next morning, Hugh showed up at the hospital right during Bethan’s work hours. He learned that she’d gone to Seattle for an exchange program and wouldn’t be back until next week.
She’d been planning to be away for a week on this trip, yet she hadn’t even bothered to tell him.
A tightness welled up in Hugh’s chest.
After a moment’s hesitation, he stopped by the ward to check on Megan and her son.

Pushing open the ward door, he saw the boy still fast asleep, looking drowsy. Megan was slumped over the bedside, gently holding her son’s small hand.
Hugh didn’t step inside.
Megan came from a humble background. She wasn’t overly ambitious and didn’t have any devious schemes. All she did was for the sake of her child.
If Bethan had a child and became a mother herself, she’d surely understand Megan’s struggles.
As he walked away, Hugh called is assistant, Jacob. “Cancel all my appointments for the next few days. Move up my business trip to Seattle to this morning. Le me know when everything’s sel.”
Inside the ward, Megan had been secretly peeping from the door. She didn’t dare to step out into the corridor until Hugh had left.
Why had Hugh suddenly canceled all his plans and decided to rush to Seattle?
Lost in her wild thoughts, Megan spotted one of Bethan’s colleagues.
It was the same girl who’d been with Bethan when Megan had

gone to see her the other day.
Megan stopped the girl. “Hi, is Dr. Olsen at work today? I need to talk to her about something.”
The girl replied, “Dr. Olsen’s gone to Seattle for an exchange. She won’t be back till next week.”
After the girl left, Megan clasped her hands tightly together.
Bethan and Hugh were on the verge of divorce, so why was Hugh going to Seattle to find her?
Could it be that during her six-year absence, Hugh had fallen in love with Bethan?
No way.
She couldn’t let that happen.
In the evening, at a hotel in downtown Seattle, Hugh knocked on Bethan’s hotel room door.
Bethan was clearly taken aback when she saw him. “What are you doing here?”
Hugh said, “I’m here on business. Heard you were in town, so I thought I’d drop by and say hi.”
Bethan nodded and was about to close the door.

Hugh propped his hand against the doorframe and pushed his way in.
He glanced around the room and frowned. “I’ve booked a suite upstairs. Come up and stay with me.”
Bethan folded her arms and leaned against the cabinet. “Mr. Cavill, take some time to sign the divorce papers. Cut out all this
nonsense.”
Hugh’s eyes darkened. “It’s not convenient here. Come upstairs with me. Let’s have a proper talk.”
Bethan shook her head. “There’s nothing to talk about between us except the divorce.”
Hugh said calmly, “I’ve made an appointment with Ms. Stone. I told her you’re here, and she’ll come over soon. She dotes on you so much. Don’t you want to see her?”
Bethan’s expression gradually froze.
Anne Stone was an old neighbor of the Olsen family from Bethan’s childhood. They’d always had a great relationship.
Anne was a violinist. It was she who first kindled Bethan’s passion for the violin, so in a way, she was half of Bethan’s teacher.
