Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 59

Chapter 59 I Warned You

Lucky Draw

The next morning, Bethan loaded a few gift cards and followed the address Tristen had given her to find Gabriel.

Her top priority was to sell the jewelry and raise enough cash.

If Hugh refused to grant her the divorce, she was ready to go all in-take him to court and fight it out.

Just as she reached Building No.7, she was caught off guard by an unexpected figure-Megan.

Bethan glanced at the building Megan had just stepped out of, then checked the address on her phone. Her brows drew together.

Gabriel lived in the same complex as Megan?

As soon as Megan saw Bethan, she sent a quick message to Hugh.

She had been racking her brain for an excuse to approach Bethan, and now fate had handed her the perfect opportunity.

If Hugh came later, well-she couldn’t be blamed.

“Dr. Olsen, what a coincidence,” Megan greeted her with deliberate sweetness.

She stepped right up to Bethan and intentionally used the title “Dr. Olsen”.

Bethan stopped walking and replied coolly, “Ms. Ridley, I’d prefer you call me Mrs. Cavill.”

If Megan could somehow convince Hugh to go through with the divorce, Bethan would honestly thank her.

Megan’s face stiffened at the subtle jab.

When Bethan turned to leave, Megan raised an arm to block her path. “Dr. Olsen, I won’t lie to you. Even though I was away from Hugh for six years, we never really ended.”

Bethan looked her straight in the eye. “If that’s true, then why didn’t you come back and stop him from marrying me?”

Megan casually flipped her styled hair over one shoulder. “Well, you probably already know by now that we have a son. Hugh loves me and our child deeply.

“I know he only married you because his family forced him. To him, the marriage was just another obligation. There were a lot of things he couldn’t control, and I understand that.”

Bethan shot back, “If you understood, then why did you come back now?”

Megan smiled sweetly, as if the answer was obvious, “Hugh said

he couldn’t stand having us live abroad anymore, and it broke his heart to be apart from us. He was the one who begged me to bring our son home.”

Bethan already knew how deeply Hugh loved Megan. But hearing it directly from Megan’s mouth still felt like a punch to the chest.

Seeing Bethan’s expression change, Megan tilted her head, her tone full of false sympathy. “Hugh said he couldn’t give you love and a child. All he could offer was the title “Mrs. Cavill”. He begged me not to leave him. Said he only stayed married out of pity for you-he didn’t want a messy fallout that would embarrass everyone.”

Bethan stood frozen, fighting to keep her composure.

Megan’s voice turned soft, her gaze sharp. “We’re both women. I don’t want to make this harder than it already is. But for the sake of the child, I hope you’ll step aside on your own. He needs his father. He deserves a whole family.”

Bethan straightened up, keeping her tone steady. “If Hugh loves you that much, I’m sure he’ll give both of you a proper title soon enough. There’s no need to rush, Ms. Ridley.”

With that, she turned and walked toward the building.

But Megan suddenly grabbed her arm.

She leaned in and lowered her voice. “Ms. Olsen, clinging to the title doesn’t change the truth. Hugh loves me. You’re the one standing in the way. You’re the other woman.”

Bethan yanked her arm free, but Megan clung on tighter.

“I slept with Hugh the night I got back. You have no idea how passionate he was,” Megan whispered, her voice oozing malice. “He told me that every time he slept with you over the years… he was thinking of me.”

Bethan broke free and struck her hard across the face.

She had always suspected Hugh wasn’t faithful.

But hearing Megan gloat about it so vividly? That shattered every last thread of restraint.

Megan let out a shriek as she fell to the ground.

The next second, Hugh came rushing onto the scene. “Megan!”

He dropped down beside her, inspecting a scrape on her leg. Gently, he helped her up.

Megan immediately collapsed into his arms, crying, “I’m sorry, Hugh. I didn’t step back fast enough.”

Hugh steadied her and turned to Bethan, his eyes cold with barely contained anger. “Bethan, I warned you-stay away from
