Chapter 66 Don’t Touch Me

Lucky Draw

Even now, dressed head-to-toe in designer labels, Megan still felt outclassed standing next to her.

The Olsen family may have gone bankrupt, but Bethan had been raised in wealth. That effortless elegance, the kind that came from never knowing struggle-Megan could never imitate it, no matter how hard she tried.

The next evening, Hugh returned from abroad.

As the car pulled away from the airport, the driver turned slightly. “Mr. Cavill, Sir Cavill has requested that you stop by Cavill Manor first.”

In the back seat of the sleek black Bentley, Hugh glanced at the gift he had brought for Bethan. “No. Take me home first.”

Before boarding his flight, he had messaged her.

By now, she should be waiting at home for him.

Just as the car left the airport, Hugh’s phone rang.

When the call ended, his expression darkened. “Change of plans,” he told the driver. “Go to Barry’s school.”

When Hugh had helped enroll Barry, he’d listed his personal number as an emergency contact, given that Bethan’s parents were elderly.

The school had just called. Barry had gotten into a fight, and they couldn’t reach Bethan.

At the school disciplinary office, several administrators greeted Hugh nervously the moment he arrived.

One middle-aged man stepped forward and said respectfully, “Mr. Cavill, we’re terribly sorry to trouble you. The student’s parents are refusing to settle, so we had no choice but to ask you to come.”

This was a prestigious private school. Every student came from wealth or influence. No one wanted to risk offending anyone.

Hugh nodded politely and walked straight over to Barry.

He quickly scanned the boy from head to toe, and found there was a bruise forming at the corner of Barry’s mouth. Hugh’s face darkened. “Anywhere else hurt?” he asked, reaching out instinctively.

Barry slapped his hand away. “Don’t touch me.”

Then he turned his back on Hugh

stay quiet.

One of them stepped up quickly to explain, “Mr. Cavill, after our investigation, it appears Barry got into a verbal altercation with another student during recess. Witnesses confirmed that Barry threw the first punch, but he refuses to explain himself or apologize, despite our repeated attempts.”

Hugh listened in silence, giving no immediate reaction.

Then, keeping his voice calm, he walked up to Barry again. His hand came down firmly on Barry’s shoulder, applying slight pressure to force eye contact.

“Tell me,” he said quietly, “are you hurt anywhere else?”

Barry stiffened. He grabbed Hugh’s wrist, shrugged off his hand with force, and pulled away.

Jacob, Hugh’s assistant, wiped cold sweat from his forehead silently.

If Hugh hadn’t moved fast and caught Barry’s incoming fist, Jacob was pretty sure Hugh’d be walking into the office tomorrow with a black eye.

Hugh gave Jacob a look, then Jacob quickly led the school staff into the next room, closing the door behind them.

Now it was just the two of them-ugh and Barry,

Hugh’s tone turned stern. “Why didn’t you explain what happened?”

Barry shot him a glare and made to walk out.

But Hugh grabbed his shoulder again, holding him in place.

Barry lashed out instinctively, his eyes burning red with frustration.

Hugh blocked every move with practiced ease. It only took a few seconds before Barry was forced down into the chair.

Hugh’s face was cold as he scolded, “I had you learn taekwondo to protect yourself-not to go around starting fights.”

Barry struggled against his grip, indignant. “Let go of me! Fight me one-on-one if you dare!”

A vein twitched above Hugh’s brow. “I’m your sister’s husband. Show some respect when you talk to me.”

Barry’s eyes turned red with frustration. “You had a kid with another woman and broke Bethan’s heart. You’re disgusting!”

Hugh quietly released Barry’s arm, his gaze darkening.
