Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 67

Chapter 67 Daddy!

Lucky Draw

Hugh braced one hand on the desk, his jaw clenched and his expression dark with fury.

Jacob entered cautiously. “Mr. Cavill, that student’s parents have agreed to settle things. The homeroom teacher and the discipline officer are already trying to calm Barry down. Maybe it’s best if you head back for now. The school will follow up

later.”

Hugh nodded curtly. “Let the staff know Barry might be going through a rebellious phase. Ask them to be patient and choose their words carefully.”

Jacob nodded quickly, not daring to contradict him.

Rebellious phase? More like the kid wants to kill Mr. Cavill.

Back in the car, Hugh’s phone rang again.

When he saw the caller ID, he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before answering.

Megan’s excited voice came through instantly. “Hugh, where are you? I made dinner for you. I—”

He cut her off, “Megan, don’t go to any trouble. My wife is still at home waiting for me. You should get some rest.”

With that, Hugh ended the call.

Meanwhile, in the home Hugh shared with Bethan, Megan stood in front of the mirror, holding her phone in one hand and adjusting the straps of her silk nightgown with the other. The slinky fabric clung to her curves, leaving little to the imagination.

She called her son over. “Hudson, do you want Hugh to be your daddy?”

Hudson clapped his hands excitedly. “Of course I do, Mommy!”

Megan gave him a sweet, calculating smile as she picked him up. “Then, when Hugh comes home, try calling him Daddy. If he says yes, then starting today, you’ll have a father.”

Her lips tugged upward in satisfaction, as Hudson happily ran off downstairs.

Wearing her lacy sleepwear like a queen, she slowly descended the stairs as if she owned the place. Every move dripped with confidence and triumph.

At exactly 8 p.m., a black Bentley glided through the front gates.

Hugh checked the time. The whole mess at the school had taken two or three hours.

He picked up the gift he had brought for Bethan and stepped out of the car.

Seeing the warm light spilling from the open living room door, his usually stern expression softened without him realizing it.

Bethan should be home by now, probably finishing up dinner. She always had impeccable taste. He was genuinely curious to see how she’d redecorated.

He took his suitcase from Jacob. “You all go on home. I’ll take it from here.”

Hugh stepped into the foyer and set down his luggage.

He paused at the entrance, eyes narrowing. The shoe cabinet had ornate carvings. The bronze doorknobs were vintage style. The sleek glass-marble walls had been replaced with soft cream-colored molding and arched doorways.

He remembered clearly: Bethan had always loved minimalist, modern design.

Why had she redone the place in this overly romantic style- something neither of them liked?

Was she still angry at him? Had she redesigned their home just

But then his gaze landed on a pair of men’s house slippers. His brow unfurrowed slightly.

So be it. As long as she was home, he’d let her do whatever she

wanted.

With a glance at the gift in his hand, he changed into the slippers and stepped inside.

Just then, Megan appeared behind him, wearing her revealing nightgown and leading Hudson by the hand. “Hugh, you’re finally home,” she said sweetly.

At the sound of her voice, Hugh spun around.

Hudson ran forward, hugging his leg. “Daddy!”

Hugh froze. His pupils constricted sharply as he stared at them in front of him. His voice was low and dangerous. “What are you two doing here?”

Because Hugh reacted too harshly, he accidentally shoved Hudson aside.
