Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 88

Chapter 88 I’ve Hired A Lawyer to File for Divorce

In the evening, Bethan got a call from Hugh and went downstairs.

The air-conditioning in the black Bentley was cranked up high. As she got in the car, she tugged at her sleeves.

Hugh leaned over and asked, “Is the AC too cold?”

Bethan averted her gaze and kept quiet.

Hugh reached around and grabbed a light blanket, then

draped it over Bethan. She yanked it off in disgust.

Hugh’s face darkened a bit. He wrapped the blanket around her again. Before she could pull it off once more, he pulled her into his arms through the blanket.

Bethan struggled, her face cold. “Hugh, let me go!”

Hugh tightened his grip and looked into her eyes. “Bethan, have you ever seen a couple act like we do?”

Not even a simple hug from him was welcome, let alone

Bethan wriggled free from Hugh’s embrace and tore off the blanket. “You’ve been hung up on your first love throughout our three-year marriage. When we were still married, you took that woman and her son in, showering them with all your love and trust. They kept provoking me. The fact that I’m still here is my limit!”

Hugh stared blankly at Bethan’s profile. “Do you really have to think like that?”

Bethan looked out of the car window. “Hugh, you were right about one thing in Megan’s hospital room.”

Hugh frowned. “What was it?”

Bethan said, “If you’ve got nothing nice to say, just shut up.”

The atmosphere in the car became so stifling that it was hard to breathe.

They stayed silent for the rest of the journey.

As dusk fell, the car slowly pulled into Cavill Manor.

A/servant rushed to open the door, and Bethan Stepped:52

Gwen rushed over, excited. “Bethan, I was worried you wouldn’t come back.”

Fiona took Bethan’s hand affectionately and led her into the living room. “Bethy, I’ve told the kitchen to steam fish for you. Have plenty later.”

Hugh followed Bethan. As he watched his mother and sister escorting Bethan into the dining room, a flicker passed through his eyes.

Once in the dining room, Bethan politely greeted

everyone.

Even though Hugh had betrayed her and they were on the verge of divorce, she couldn’t afford to be rude.

There was a sumptuous dinner on the table, but Bethan had no appetite.

She’d come back to the country to celebrate the festival with her parents, but instead, her younger brother got his hand injured, and her parents were heartbroken.

Fiona kept piling food on Bethan’s plate. Bethan mumbled a thank-you mechanically.

Hugh noticed Bethan’s reaction.

He placed a soup tureen in front of her, lifted the lid, and tested the temperature. “This is your favorite soup. I asked the kitchen to make it just for you.”

Bethan stared at the soup tureen, and her mind involuntarily drifted to the scene of Hugh tenderly feeding Megan soup by the hospital bed. A wave of nausea hit her.

She fought back the urge to vomit and stood up. “I’ll just go to the restroom.”

After Bethan left the dining room, Ryan snapped, “She comes back with a long face. So disrespectful!”

Fiona looked at her son. “Hugh, tell me the truth. What’s going on between you and Bethan?”

High rose to his feet, his expression as calm as ever. 11:52

Harvey let out a cold snort but kept his mouth shut.

After a brief moment of hesitation, Hugh turned on his heel and left the dining room.

Only after Hugh had disappeared from the room did Gwen find the courage to speak up, “Grandpa, Mom, Dad, Bethan didn’t even take a single bite of the food my brother put on her plate.

“I counted. My brother knocked back seven glasses of wine and didn’t eat a thing.”
