229 A Family Visit
“Rena, you’re here!” Bryce lit up the second he saw her. His tone was extra warm and full of pride.
“I remembered you love fish, so I had the kitchen prepare several kinds. Help yourself.”
Serena handed the butler a few gift boxes. “Thanks… Bryce. That means a lot.”
The moment she said “Bryce,” Lucinda gave a visible jolt.
That one word made it real. Her best friend wasn’t just playing house–she had married into the family for good.
Lucinda leaned in and nudged her. “Auntie, where’s my gift? You didn’t bring anything for me?”
Serena shot her a look. “Don’t start.”
Lucinda turned to Sebastian with a grin. “Uncle Sebastian, I got the title right, didn’t I?”
Sebastian raised a brow. “Perfectly right.
“Wait for your gift!”
Lucinda laughed in delight. She was absolutely clinging to Sebastian from now on. The man practically showered cash like it grew on trees.
Amber sat stiffly nearby. Her smile barely held together.
“You spoil Lucinda, Uncle Sebastian.”
Sebastian turned his eyes her way. “Feeling left out? Make Trevor give you one.”
Amber’s mouth clamped shut. She didn’t dare speak again.
Trevor walked in late. The moment he stepped through the door, he saw the family gathered around the table, laughing and Chatting. The man next to Serena was carefully picking out fish bones for her.
Trevor stood frozen. His eyes locked on the scene and didn’t move.
Nathan saw him and raised his voice. “Trevor, dinner already started. What took you so long?
Come on. You’re the only one missing.”
Trevor’s feet felt like they were sinking into the floor.
“Grandpa, sorry I’m late.”
“Wash your hands and sit down.”
Trevor pulled out the chair next to Amber and sat. There were three seats between him and Sarana
Chapter 229 A Family Visit
“Why was Trevor calling his aunt in the middle of the night?”
Trevor’s eyes narrowed. Sebastian was really doing this? In front of everyone?
Was he serious?
“Go ahead, Trevor. Let’s hear it.”
Serena blinked. Trevor had called her? When? She was sure she blocked his number a while ago.
Amber’s fingernails dug into her palms. Her cheeks burned like they were on fire.
That one line from Sebastian was enough to slap her across the face without lifting a finger.
Trevor’s expression sank. He didn’t say a word.

Bryce slammed his palm on the table. The sound echoed sharply. “Trevor, your uncle asked you something. Didn’t you hear?”
“It wasn’t anything big. She used to work with Levine Studios as legal counsel. I had a quick legal question.”
Nathan let out a breath. That excuse was barely passable.
But Sebastian wasn’t backing off. Not even close.
“Used to work with us? Trevor, you want to roll your eyes at me, go ahead. But don’t ever show that kind of disrespect to your
aunt.”
