Chapter 239 Jonah Hill
Chapter 239 Jonah Hill
“Looks like Jonah still isn’t done,” someone said with a smirk.
The camera zoomed in. Jonah Hill’s face was bright red. “Mr. Beaumont, I just emailed the assignment to you.”
Eugene glanced at his watch. “It’s three minutes past seven. I’ll read it, but it won’t count toward your score.”

Jonah pressed his lips together. “Mr. Beaumont, I’m really sorry. My internet cut out right before I could send it. I swear I had it ready. Can I please get another chance?”
Eugene didn’t flinch. Rules were rules. Late was late.
“Sorry.”
Amber chimed in, all sugar. “What a shame. But Mr. Beaumont does take deadlines seriously. I mean, it’s just three minutes. There should be room for a little grace, especially with a reason like that.”
Yves smiled politely. “Not to take sides, but in law, deadlines matter. Even a few minutes can cost a case.”
Amber didn’t argue. She just smiled again and said nothing.
The first day of taping was finally over.
Serena headed out for the night.
She shared the elevator with Jonah. “Don’t beat yourself up. One assignment doesn’t define your future.”
Out of the ten interns, Jonah was the only one without connections.
His résumé was decent, but nothing prestigious.
His credentials didn’t shine like the others‘.
But Serena believed that effort could fill in the gaps.
She smiled, said goodbye, and jogged toward a sleek, black car with a familiar license plate.
Jonah watched her climb into the quiet, luxurious vehicle. His lips twitched.
So maybe he really was the only average one here.
Inside the car, Sebastian didn’t look pleased. “Who was that kid? He looked pretty young.”
He already knew the answer. He’d seen the same face during the livestream.
He didn’t remember the name, but he remembered where he sat.
So now the intern was already cozying up to senior staff?
Serena answered casually. “One of the interns. He missed the deadline and was upset. I told him not to worry about it.”
That made Sebastian even more sour.

He said flatly. “I see.”
Serena didn’t pick up on the shift in his tone.
“I’m too tired to go out tonight. Got an early morning tomorrow. Let’s just go home.”
“Alright.”
Later that night, after dinner, Serena was in her home office when Sebastian pulled her into his lap and kissed her like he couldn’t stop.
Her voice was breathy, her cheeks flushed. “Stop kissing me.”
Sebastian’s skin burned. “Fine. I’ll let you off tonight.”
