Trouble inevitably followed whenever a scene like that unfolded.

much attention? If someone tried to hurt Trevor, if there quietly?”
“If you want to play it safe, fine. I can respect that. But I’m not the type to just let it slide.”
Play it safe… Why does that sting so sharply coming from him? Nathan sighed as Sebastian planted his stance firmly, realizing his warning had no effect.
He wasn’t particularly close to the Quinn family anyway.
Marcus had merely sent someone to pass a message. Nathan thought Sebastian’s reaction was far too extreme and had tried to calm him down.
But Sebastian refused to listen, so Nathan decided it wasn’t worth banging his head against the wall longer.

Meanwhile, Sebastian’s phone buzzed with a message from Charles. Serena had returned to the villa.
The proud man lingered a little longer, deliberately slowing his drive home.
When he stepped inside the villa, he scanned the ground floor but didn’t spot the person he was looking for.
Charles offered a quiet reminder. “Mr. Levine, Mrs. Levine went back to the bedroom after she returned.”
Sebastian frowned. Is she still feeling unwell?
Dinner was approaching, yet she hadn’t come downstairs. Without thinking, he strode toward the stairs. He paused briefly, considering whether to knock, then realized it was his bedroom too. No knock was needed.
His long, strong fingers turned the handle–and found it locked from the inside.
He rapped sharply. “Open the door.” His tone was measured, but firm.
Serena, adjusting her outfit in front of the mirror, nearly jumped out of her skin. Why is he back already?
“Oh, give me a minute! Ten minutes!” she called, flustered.
The problem was, she couldn’t answer the door dressed like this.
The outfit had been complicated to put on, taking her ages, and now she had to remove it while the man waited outside. Her hands tangled hopelessly.

He went to the study, retrieved the spare key, and slid it into the lock. When the door swung open, a cascade of pure white filled his vision.
A delicate, gauzy dress clung to every curve of her body. Her slender waist curved and vanished like a fleeting tease. Light fell over her like she had stepped into a soft, glowing filter.
Before he entered, she had been adjusting the fluffy bes
ears perched on her head.
She spun around, startled, a delicate deer caught in headlights. “Why did you barge in like that?”
She had intended to remove the ears first, then open the door for him, but clearly, he hadn’t waited. Sebastian’s expression darkened. He closed the door behind him and locked it.
With two long, purposeful strides, he approached the woman who seemed designed to tempt him. He took her by the waist, lifted her onto his thigh, and claimed her mouth without hesitation.
