Chapter 281 A Warning
Donald’s temples throbbed slightly. “Rena, you can’t joke something like that.”
Spout
“Dad, what if I’m not joking? Were you aware of it all this
At that moment, Sebastian came home. The moment he
into the foyer, he spotted Donald.
“Donald, why didn’t you say you were coming? I wo told the chef to prepare something more lavish.”
Donald chuckled awkwardly. “Well, I missed Rena, so I thought I’d stop by.”
He wasn’t naive enough to think Sebastian was truly upset about not hosting him properly. He understood the implication–he should have informed them before coming.
“Sebastian, I have something else to take care of. I’ll head off first.”
As expected, Sebastian didn’t try to stop him. He only said, “Come by whenever you have time.”
He then added, “By the way, about that collaboration we discussed before–we might need to reconsider the logistics. Think it over and have your assistant contact mine.”
Donald’s smile stiffened, realizing it was a warning. If he couldn’t figure out where to stand, Sebastian probably wouldn’t help his company anymore.
“Of course. Rena is my daughter, and I’ll always put her first.”
With that, Donald didn’t linger. He left quickly and decisively.
Serena pursed her lips. “Are you really going to help him?”
“I could buy his company and give it to you. Let’s have your dad work for you instead. What do you think?”
But Serena didn’t accept the gesture and merely shook her head. “No, I wouldn’t want that.”
A faint light flickered in Sebastian’s eyes. “What do you want, then?”
“I want him to watch his company collapse. Make them bankrupt.”
“Alright. Whatever you want.”
Serena suddenly thought of what Lucinda had said before–he always agreed to everything she asked without conditions. If she didn’t say anything, he wouldn’t ask. He would just quietly help her.
Serena pulled him down to sit beside her. “Why don’t you ask me why?”
Sebastian smiled softly. “You’ll tell me when the time comes. If you’re not saying it now, it just means you don’t trust me enough yet. If my wife doesn’t trust me, then it must mean I haven’t done well enough.”
Serena was speechless. What was with the pitiful act?
She cleared her throat. “It’s not that I don’t want to tell you. I just don’t know how to say it.”

She explained, “Mom passed away too early. She believed she had given her whole heart to the man she loved, but maybe it was all misplaced. I just don’t want you to think my mom was foolish. stupid, or naive.
“I won’t.” Sebastian looked at her intently. “I won’t.”
“There’s nothing wrong with loving someone. The one who tramples on another person’s sincerity—that’s
the one who deserves to die.”
