Serena gave a small smile. “It all depends on how the judge sees it. We’ve submitted every piece of evidence we could gather, and that surveillance footage works strongly in our favor. Try not to stress too much.
“Maybe take your daughter out for a bit, help her get some fresh air. No matter how this turns out, needs a chance to move forward.”

The client wiped her tears. “Alright. We will. Thank you for all the hard work, both you and Ms. Dempsey.”
Serena had no idea how thing
were going between Evelyn and her daughter, and she did not feel it was her place to pry. After all, it involved someone else’s private family matters.
For the first time, she found herself especially hoping this case would end in a win.
If that happened, the day that punk finally got sentenced might also be the day Evelyn’s daughter saw things a little more clearly.
Over the past few weeks, every time Serena returned to Levine Residence, the atmosphere had been calm.
Deanna had stopped making those passive–aggressive remarks, and everyone had been getting along without trouble.
One afternoon, as Serena walked past the storage room, she accidentally overheard two maids gossiping.
“What a shame. Poor Cubbie getting sick this time was really just bad luck. Such a tiny kid. He cried so hard his voice went hoarse, I felt terrible just watching.”
“Didn’t they say he caught a chill? Kids under three get sick easily. My grandson’s the same way. The slightest change in weather and he starts coughing.”
“Oh, please. He didn’t have to get sick in the first place. You have no idea how careless Madam Jacobs can be. The boy’s barely this big, and she still carried him out to the balcony to let him sit in the wind.
“Tell me, what kind of person lets a child that small face the cold air like that? Sometimes I seriously wonder if that kid is even her own.”
Those few murmured comments planted a faint seed of doubt in Serena’s mind.
That kid couldn’t possibly not be Amber’s, right? I saw her when she was heavily pregnant. She can’t exactly fake a belly like that. Besides, there were always people around her keeping an eye on things.
Still, Serena did not think much of it and soon let the thought slip away.

Three days later, Serena was sitting in a street. Amber had a mask on and seemed to l something between them.
arguing with a foreign man, the two of them tugging at
Serena could not make out Amber’s expression clearly, but the man looked furious.
In the end, Amber flagged down a cab and left. The foreigner stayed behind and angrily kicked the trash/ can beside him several times.
Serena narrowed her eyes and casually snapped a photo.
“Honey, can you help me find out who this guy is?” she texted Sebastian.
Not long after, Sebastian called. “Who is he? Why are you looking him up? Is he bothering you?”
His voice sounded tense, with that unmistakable jealous edge that made her both amused and helpless.
“What are you even thinking? I just need to check something for a case. If you can’t do it, I’ll ask someone else.” She deliberately tried to provoke him.
Men could never resist that kind of challenge. “I can do it. Don’t ask anyone else, honey. From now on, come to me for this stuff.”
She let out a quiet laugh. “Wow. Look at you.”
Exactly one month had passed since the last hearing. The court’s judgment finally came down, and Serena was very satisfied with the outcome.
In cases like this, what people often call a ‘drunken assault,‘ the woman was usually too intoxicated to resist. That made it harder to prove whether the act went against her will. Fortunately, the surveillance footage supported the case.
The client, who happened to be traveling when she received the news, sounded thrilled. “Thank you, Ms. Steele. I really appreciate it!”
Serena smiled. “It’s just part of my job. No need to thank me. The other side might still file an appeal, so wait for the notice if that happens. For now, just enjoy your trip.”
This was the first piece of good news she received today.
