Chapter 382 They Got Kidnapped

By evening, Serena got a call from Sebastian.

“Tonight we need to swing by the Levine Residence,” he said.

“What’s up?” she asked.

I’m thinking maybe we should wait until the results come in before we go check on things. Feels a little too early today.

“Amber and Cubbie have been kidnapped,” he replied.

“Huh?” She was shocked and confused. “Who would do something like that?”

As soon as she said it, a thought hit her. “Oh, it’s not like there’s no one. I called Tony today, and he didn‘ pick up.”

He paused, thinking. “About Tony coming to the firm to see you, don’t bring that up yet. Let’s just pretend we don’t know. Something about this doesn’t feel right.”

She felt the same unease.

Cubbie’s just a kid. Tony’s a foreigner. Would he really go that far to snatch a child? He couldn’t even take the kid back to his country. No matter how I look at it, it can’t be Tony. And for no reason at all, how does Amber even get kidnapped?

Nathan slammed his hand on the table, furious. “Find them! I can’t believe someone would dare snatch the Levines‘ people!”

Deanna wiped her tears quietly. “Amber’s always been kind. She hardly ever argues with anyone. How could someone just kidnap her? Those d*mn kidnappers–Cubbie wasn’t even eight months old yet. They’re heartless.”

The Levine residence was swarmed with police. Nathan, Deanna, and Trevor all had trackers and listening devices on their phones. If the kidnappers called, they could trace them immediately.

The Levines also launched a massive online search party. They refused to believe Amber and Cubbie couldn’t be found.

Serena and Sebastian didn’t get there until nighttime. By then, Lucinda was at the Levines‘ residence with her belly showing, just about to head back with Julian.

Then the security footage. showed a guy covering Amber’s nose with something–I don’t even know what–and then they vanished through the emergency exit. There’s no clue on the cameras about how they left the hospital. It’s been eight hours since they went missing.”

Serena nodded. “You guys should go home for now. Don’t come over for the next few days. Things aren’t safe here. You need to take care of yourself, okay?”

Lucinda smiled and teased a little. “Got it. Rena, you be careful too. Something about this feels off. Amber’s smart–how could she just get taken like that? I don’t think it’s that simple.”

Some things I just feel. I’ve hated Amber since I was a kid, and in all this time, I’ve never seen her get burned. I can even say I know her better than Serena. Something’s off here. If she really was kidnapped, fine, maybe I’m just being paranoid. But if she’s faking it, then she’s definitely trying to mess with Serena!

Sebastian grabbed her hand and squeezed it. With him there, she felt steady.
