“Two?” Serena propped herself up. “I’m having twins?”

“It seems so. Lie back down and let me take another look.”

Serena lay back down uneasily, her mind blank.

“Congratulations, it really is twins. They were too small to detect before, but now there are clearly two heartbeats! Twins are quite rare. You get to go through hardship just once and have two babies.”

Serena touched her belly as she walked out of the consultation room.
