Chapter 433 Something Seemed Suspicious
Serena was speechless. “Lucinda, were there really that many clues?”

Lucinda pulled out her phone and opened Sebastian’s profile. “Look, his username is ‘SL. Isn’t treat the initials of your surnames?”
At that moment, Lucinda felt like a genius. But at the same time, she regretted it how had she only noticed all these little signs
now?
Serena felt a mix of sweetness and heartache in her chest. “Alright, I know how much he loves me now?”
Lucinda blinked. “What about you?”
Serena smiled softly. “Of course I love him too.”
Not out of gratitude–but deeply, truly in love.
The next day at the law firm, Serena had planned to ask about Lily, but Shawn told her she had taken time off.
Feeling uneasy, she sent Lily a message but received no reply.
Serena thought maybe, after the breakup, she just wanted some time alone to heal. But after Lily had been on leave for an entire week, Serena had a bad feeling.
“Why did Lily take time off?”
HR showed her chat records on WorkChat, the messaging platform at work. “She applied for bereavement leave and returned to her hometown. Her grandmother passed away.”
Her grandmother?
Serena had never heard Lily mention her grandmother before.
Gavin showed up at work every day as usual. He wasn’t wearing the shoes Lily had bought him, though.
Serena managed to catch Gavin in the pantry.
He blinked. “Serena, why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?”
Serena shook her head. “Nothing. Just looking.”
She tried calling Lily again, but there was no answer. Messages, of course, went unanswered too.
A sense of unease settled over her. Something didn’t feel right.
During her lunch break, Serena scrolled through her chat history with Lily. Suddenly, her pupils shrank.
“That’s not right! Lily said her grandmother passed away when she was little!”

Chapter 433 Something Sested Suspicious
Two years ago, Lily mentioned it in passing, and Serena only remembered after going back to check
Serena took time off and went straight to the police station.
“Miss, you’re saying you suspect something has happened to your friend?”

“Yes! Even though she requested leave, she said it was bereavement leave—but her grandmother passed away years ago. That reason doesn’t hold up. I went to her rental apartment, and no one answered the door.”
The officers exchanged glances. “But according to what you’ve said, the reason might be false–but leave requests are submitted through WorkChat. It’s unlikely someone else used her phone to apply, right?”
They added, “You also mentioned she recently went through a breakup and was in a bad mood. Maybe she just wants to be alone. Try not to worry too much.”
With no other option, Serena lowered her head and left the station. Was that the case for Lily?
But Lily was someone who loved being around people. Serena had even asked her neighbors–no one had seen her for days.
Could she have gone back to her hometown to clear her head?
She messaged HR. “Do you have Lily’s emergency contact number?”
Just as Serena got back into her car outside the police station, HR replied, “She never gave one.”
Just as Serena was about to call Sebastian, someone knocked on her car window.
It was Gavin.
“Serena, I didn’t expect to see you here. Were you at the police station just now?”
Serena straightened her back, narrowing her eyes slightly as she studied him. “Have you been following me?”
Gavin gave a bitter smile. “Why would I be doing that, Serena? It seemed like your husband misunderstood my intentions the other day. I wanted to apologize.
“Serena, could you give me a ride back to the office?” he asked.
Serena studied him for a moment, then unlocked the door.
“There’s no need to apologize. I’ve already cleared things up with him.”
She only let him in because she wanted to get some information.
“Gavin, have you been dating Lily?”
Behind his glasses, a cold glint flickered, masking the viciousness in his eyes.
