Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 129

"After I rushed Caden to the emergency room, I never saw Ms. Monroe again."

Lena frantically wiped her tear-stained face, stealing terrified glances at Julian's darkening expression.

Julian's eyes were pitch black, his thin lips pressed so tightly together they were almost white. The oppressive, lethal aura radiating from him was suffocating.

Lena didn't dare breathe another word.

She was fully prepared to be screamed at, fired, and thrown out on the street.

The silence in the room was excruciating. Neil nervously rubbed the back of his neck, wanting to advocate for Lena but far too intimidated to open his mouth.

Seeing this, Hester let out a small sigh.

Lena had managed Stellamare Villa flawlessly for the past five years. She was dedicated and meticulous. Hester genuinely didn't believe Caden's accident was Lena's fault.

"Lena tried calling you, and she sent you a text." Hester looked right at Julian, unable to stop herself from defending the innocent woman. "Your past behavior and obvious favoritism toward Melody completely misled her. So, I really don't think you can blame Lena for this."

Lena looked at Hester with overwhelming gratitude, then braved a glance at Julian. "Honestly... before Neil pulled the security footage, I never even suspected Ms. Monroe. I thought Caden had just tripped and tumbled down the stairs by himself."

Neil immediately stepped forward, pulling up a video file on his phone.

On the screen, the camera pointed at the second-floor landing. Melody was sitting in her wheelchair, waving affectionately at Caden, who was standing a few feet away.

Caden's leg injury hadn't fully healed, but he was walking fine.

Seeing Melody wave, the boy didn't hesitate. He trotted right over to her.

Melody gently stroked his hair, then suddenly pointed down the staircase, saying something to him.

Obediently, Caden followed her finger, taking a few steps toward the edge and peering his little head over the drop. In that exact fraction of a second, Melody shot her hands out and violently shoved him right in the back—

Caden's tiny body immediately pitched forward, slamming hard onto the steps before tumbling uncontrollably all the way down!

When he hit the bottom landing, his small body lay crumpled like a discarded ragdoll, entirely motionless.
