On Caden's third day in the hospital, Neil stopped by.
Gael came with him.
The moment Gael saw Hester, she grabbed her arm and dragged her into the adjoining resting room.
Closing the door securely, Gael reached out and patted Hester's stomach. "How's my goddaughter doing?"
Hester smiled. "The baby is perfectly healthy."
"And how is my goddaughter's mother?"
Hester rolled her eyes affectionately. "She's perfectly fine too. More importantly, how are you surviving Weston Corp?"
"Ugh, don't even get me started!"
Gael groaned, throwing her hands up. "Julian's entire staff is a bunch of soulless corporate drones! Neil treats me like his personal intern. I'm printing documents, fetching coffee, and acting as his chauffeur! Since Julian's out of the country, Neil is attending all these high-society galas and business dinners in his place. So my days consist of driving him around and blocking drinks for him! I'm losing my mind!"
Hester frowned. "How does he treat you?"
"How do you think?" Gael scoffed. "He's constantly wearing this strict, all-business face. I don't care how handsome he is, I can't even appreciate it! My honey trap strategy is completely useless against a brick wall!"
"Neil was handpicked and trained by Julian himself. He's an orphan, but at only twenty-eight, his standing in Northwood City's business circles is already formidable. He might have the title of an assistant, but he could easily run a Fortune 500 company on his own."
"Yeah, I can tell," Gael said dismissively. "But guys like that pour every ounce of their physical and mental energy into work. He's probably impotent! Ugh, what a turn-off."
