Hester stared at Seraphina.
Seraphina possessed delicate brows and almond eyes; she had that quintessential, non-threatening, beautifully soft appearance.
With a face like that, she didn't even have to do anything—just standing there shedding a few tears was enough to make anyone feel she was the victim of a terrible injustice.
Yet Sabrina had clearly stated that Seraphina was famously known as the 'Ice Goddess' during their university days. Looking at the Seraphina standing before her now, Hester honestly couldn't find a single trace of an 'Ice Goddess.'
But then again, losing her husband, giving birth alone, and battling severe depression—going through such monumental life tragedies would inevitably alter a person's character.
"Seraphina, the issues between Hester and me have absolutely nothing to do with you. Don't overthink it."
The man's deep voice resonated from behind her.
Hester turned slightly, casting a cold glance at Julian, who was still holding a sobbing Caden, who kept wailing for his 'Mommy.'
She frowned slightly, completely ignoring Julian and making zero effort to comfort Caden.
Instead, she turned her frosty gaze back to Seraphina. "Ms. Simpson, you've gotten one thing completely wrong. The person I welcome the least in this house is Julian."
Hearing this, Seraphina was stunned and instinctively looked toward Julian.
Her gaze was filled with helplessness. "Julian, Hester must just be lashing out in anger. Don't take it to heart."
Julian's thin lips were pressed tightly together, his dark eyes fixed intensely on the back of Hester's head.
In his mind, Hester was indeed just throwing a temper tantrum.
With both Caden and Seraphina present, Julian didn't want to indulge Hester's willful behavior any further.
He let out a short, tight sigh. "Hester, we will talk about our own issues later. Right now, Caden needs you."
"He's crying for his mommy, and I am not his mommy. Both of you are very aware of this fact, aren't you?"
Hester turned sideways to shoot Julian a withering glare before sweeping her gaze back to Seraphina.
