Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 199

Truthfully, Julian had never been entirely on board with Seraphina moving into Stellamare Villa in the first place.

Reviewing the chain of events, he realized Hester had intentionally orchestrated the clash. She deliberately used Seraphina to make a point and pick a fight.

Julian was exhausted by the constant arguments. For one, Hester's pregnancy meant the stress wasn't good for her or the baby. Secondly, he genuinely wanted to make their marriage work and repair the damage between them.

He had never entertained the idea of actually divorcing her. Signing that new agreement was merely a temporary measure to pacify an angry wife. He never believed for a second that the terms would actually be enforced.

...

Seraphina watched Julian closely.

She knew dressing up like that had been a reckless move.

Julian had definitely seen the photos. Yet, even with her lying in a hospital bed after nearly dying, he was still laying down these rules.

It was a clear boundary.

She knew Julian accommodated her out of loyalty and respect for his late brother, Adrian. But his polite, familial care wasn't nearly enough for her!

"Julian, I'm so sorry. If I had known coming back would put you in such a terrible position, I never would have returned!" Seraphina choked back a sob, her voice thick with forced misery. "Maybe... maybe I should just move abroad permanently?"

Julian paused, his gaze narrowing slightly. "Are you serious?"

She nodded tearfully.

"But, I want to take Caden with me. Is that okay?"

Julian's brows snapped together in a deep frown.
