Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 200

That night, the black Maybach sped onto the grounds of Stellamare Villa.

Before the driver had even fully parked, the rear door was violently shoved open.

Julian's tall frame emerged from the car. His long legs carried him toward the front door at an urgent, almost frantic pace.

The house was blazing with light, but the massive living room was entirely empty save for a panic-stricken Lena pacing back and forth.

With just Hester gone, the entire house suddenly felt hollow and freezing cold.

Julian's pace slowed as his eyes swept over the empty dining room.

Remembering how bitterly they had parted ways that morning, the suffocating weight in his chest crushed down harder.

"Mr. Weston!"

Spotting him, Lena rushed over, bowing her head in deep shame. "I'm so sorry, sir! This is entirely my fault!"

Julian stared at her, his dark eyes terrifyingly icy.

"What exactly happened?"

Lena was practically trembling with anxiety. "After you left this morning, she had breakfast and said she was tired and wanted to rest upstairs. I told her I'd make lunch whenever she woke up. But then... she suddenly said she was craving sea bass from the west side market and told me to go get it. The driver and I left..."

Under Julian's crushing aura, she stammered through a detailed account of the day.

Julian's expression grew even more rigid.

After a long, agonizing silence, he finally spoke, his voice dangerously low. "How was her mood after I left?"

Lena frantically tried to recall. "She seemed really happy. She actually felt the baby kick. When she told me, she looked so gentle and radiant. She was completely overjoyed about the baby."

Julian froze.

The baby kicked...

A distant, buried memory suddenly broke through to the surface of his mind.

Julian's Adam's apple bobbed as his breathing grew heavy.

He forced his words out, his voice hoarse. "Did she say anything else to you?"

Lena shook her head quickly. "No. She just asked me to make a few of her favorite dishes. She seemed to be in such a great mood and had a huge appetite, so when she sent me out for the fish, I didn't suspect a single thing... Sir, I am so sorry. I failed."

Julian pinched the bridge of his nose, his eyes tightly shut.

After a long moment, he let out a jagged sigh. "It's not your fault. If she wanted to leave, you couldn't have stopped her anyway."

Lena looked up, panic still swimming in her eyes. "Then... what do we do now? She's pregnant. What if she's out there all alone and something happens..."

"She wouldn't leave without a plan," Julian cut her off, his tone absolute. "Someone picked her up. We don't need to worry about her safety."

Hearing that, Lena finally let out a small breath of relief.

"Then what are you going to do, sir?"
