Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 204

Northwood City.

Inside a VIP hospital room.

A nurse changed Seraphina's dressings, gave her a few instructions, and left.

Caden had gone to preschool, and Jane was out grocery shopping.

The hospital's facilities were top-notch, complete with an adjoining lounge for family members. Since Seraphina had been admitted, Jane and Caden had practically moved into the hospital.

Neil had also hired an aide for Seraphina, but yesterday, claiming she felt much better and wasn't used to having a stranger around, Seraphina asked Neil to dismiss them.

Now, she was alone in the room.

Her wound was healing well.

Over the past three days, Julian had been very busy. He'd visited twice, but mostly just to spend time with Caden; he barely spoke to Seraphina.

Seraphina's anxiety grew.

Because she was recovering so nicely, she would likely be discharged in less than three days.

Caden was very attached to her right now. If she suggested taking him abroad, he'd probably agree.

But she didn't actually want to go abroad!

She had finally found a reason to return to the country. The wealth of the Weston family, an exceptional man like Julian—she didn't want to let all that slip through her fingers.

Plus, she had been ruthless with that knife. Enduring all that pain was specifically so she could stay by Julian's side.

If she really left the country, wouldn't all her suffering have been for nothing?

Anxious, Seraphina racked her brain for the past two days, trying to come up with a justifiable reason to stay in the country.

Just then, a knock came at the door.

Seraphina snapped out of her thoughts and looked up.

The door opened, and a familiar, stylish figure walked in.

Seraphina kept her expression placid, but her mind was on high alert.

...

Chloe was dressed head to toe in designer labels, carrying a Chanel bag from last season.

In her other hand, she held a fruit basket.

It was incredibly basic, looking like something she'd hastily grabbed from the corner store downstairs.

Seraphina's eyes swept over it without a flicker, though a hint of mockery flashed in her mind.

A spoiled rich girl through and through—she didn't even know how to fake a proper gesture!

Chloe walked up to the bed, glancing at Seraphina's pale, luminous complexion. A brief look of disgust and disdain flickered in her perfectly made-up eyes.

Then, her lips curved into what she probably thought was a warm, sincere smile. "Seraphina! I only just heard you were in the hospital. Ugh, the timing is so bad. My mom went on a trip with some of the ladies for a few days, otherwise she would have come with me to see you."
