Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 227

Standing in the courtyard was Julian Weston.

Dressed impeccably in dark trousers and a crisp white shirt, his tall, commanding presence seemed entirely out of place in the rustic setting. He held Caden's small hand, his sharp features carved into an expression of absolute, glacial indifference.

Hearing Ms. Crane’s polite rejection, his deep voice cut through the morning air. “I am Hester’s husband. My name is Weston.”

“Oh, you’re the husband she’s currently divorcing!”

Julian’s jaw tightened.

Ms. Crane was genuinely stunned for a second, but it didn't take long for the puzzle pieces to click into place.

She wasn't ignorant of corporate giants; she knew exactly who Julian Weston was.

Until today, neither Hester nor Chiara had mentioned that the soon-to-be ex-husband was Northwood City’s reigning titan. Ms. Crane had guessed Hester came from old money based on her poise, but she hadn’t expected this level of aristocracy.

Julian Weston was the man sitting at the apex of the city's hierarchy. He was the fantasy of countless women. Who in their right mind would willingly walk away from a marriage like that?

Yet, Hester was doing exactly that. And she was doing it while pregnant.

For a woman to walk away from a man with that kind of power and wealth—especially while expecting his child—it meant the marriage wasn't just broken. It was toxic beyond repair.

Ms. Crane had never doubted Hester’s character, which meant the fault undoubtedly lay with Julian.

Had he cheated?

Her mind raced, suddenly remembering Jasper and Jett sitting in the dining room. Oh, God. Three men fighting over one woman. This was going to be an absolute disaster.

She desperately needed to keep them apart!

But as she scrambled for an excuse, she realized something: if Julian had found her here, he already knew everything about Hester’s whereabouts.

Before she could formulate a plan, Julian spoke again.

“You don't need to worry about accommodating us, Ms. Crane. We’re staying next door. I am simply here to see my wife.”

Ms. Crane was trapped.

Legally, they were still married. How could she possibly bar a husband from seeing his wife?

She offered a tight, strained smile. “Right, well, as long as you have a place to stay. Hester hasn't come down yet. Should I go up and let her know you’re here?”

Gigi let go of Hester’s hand and sprinted toward him on her little legs.

Caden’s eyes instantly lit up. “Gigi!”

The two kids collided in a massive, joyful hug, thrilled to be reunited.

“How did you know my godmother and I were here?” Gigi beamed.

“My dad told me!” Caden hugged her back just as tightly.

It was a ridiculously adorable scene. Even the adults felt their expressions soften at the sight.

Caden finally pulled back, looking around eagerly. “Where is my godmother?”

“Right there!”

Gigi turned and pointed a chubby little finger at Hester, who was standing on the porch steps.

“I slept in her bed last night!” Gigi boasted proudly. “She smells so good!”
