"You're the best, Ms. Crane! Let's get completely wasted tonight!" Rona cheered, raising her bottle to clink against Ms. Crane's. "I'll go first!"
As a veteran talent manager, Rona could handle her liquor. She tipped her head back and downed a quarter of the bottle in one go.
The group erupted into cheers and applause, instantly elevating the party's energy.
"Take it easy, Rona," Jett teased from the grill. "If you pass out, I'm sneaking off to film the sunrise tomorrow!"
"You try it, brat, and I'm reporting you to your cousin! Jasper, tell this kid to fall in line!"
Jasper chuckled, flipping a skewer. "No problem. If he misbehaves, I'll just tell my aunt to find him a wife so someone can finally keep him in check."
"Hey! You can't do that!" Rona panicked immediately. "Jett is a pop idol! He can't date, and he definitely cannot get married!"
Jasper raised an eyebrow in mock confusion. "So being a celebrity requires taking a vow of celibacy?"
"You clearly don't understand the entertainment industry," Rona laughed. "If Jett went public with a relationship, millions of girls would be heartbroken!"
"He can't date publicly, but he can date in secret!" one of the young female staff members joked. "Jett, you can date me in secret. I promise I won't tell a soul, and I definitely won't ruin your career!"
"Nice try, kid. Are you trying to steal my cash cow?" Rona handed the girl a beer. "You have to get through me first!"
The girl, clearly an extrovert, stood up and took the bottle. "Alright! For Jett, I'll take you on!"
Jett burst out laughing. "You better not lose, Rona. I'm not ready to settle down just yet..."
"Oh, if the prize is being Jett's girlfriend, count me in!" Ms. Crane joined the banter.
The group dissolved into laughter, the mood incredibly light and comfortable.
Hester sat at a camping table, resting one hand on her stomach. She watched the playful banter, her eyes curving into happy crescents. The firelight danced in her gaze, warm and vibrant.
