It was early evening by the time Seraphina returned to Silverstream Villa.
The moment she stepped through the door, Jane hurried over to greet her.
"Welcome back, ma'am."
Seraphina kicked off her shoes and walked further inside. "Don't worry about cooking for me tonight, Jane. I'll just head over to Stellamare Villa to eat with Caden and Julian."
"Oh, but didn't the young master and Mr. Weston leave on a trip?"
Seraphina froze in her tracks.
She turned to look at the housekeeper, a deep frown marring her flawless face. "When did this happen?"
"They left last night, I believe. One of the staff called this morning to tell me they'd be gone for a few days and asked me to pass the message along."
Seraphina's expression hardened.
Not only had Julian taken Caden out of town without telling her, he had left it to the staff to casually inform her. Ever since she'd been discharged from the hospital, his attitude toward her had grown noticeably distant.
Clearly, the incident the other night had shifted his perspective of her.
Panic began to claw at her chest, but in front of Jane, she had to maintain her delicate, easygoing persona.
"I see," she said, forcing a soft, gentle smile. "Well, just whip up whatever you like for dinner and let me know when it's ready."
"Right away, ma'am."
...
The moment Seraphina retreated to her bedroom, Bianca called again.
"We just wrapped up our meeting," Bianca announced. "Mr. Jensen thinks we should ignore the online hate for now. Let the controversy build up the hype. We won't put out a statement. Then, during the show, you can drop the bombshell that you are actually Clio. The plot twist will be incredible for ratings, and you'll gain a massive following overnight!"
It was a brilliant strategy. Seraphina couldn't have been more pleased.
"Whatever you think is best, I trust you," she replied smoothly.
