"You can absolutely go in there right now and tell Grandma you're divorcing me," Julian said, his expression completely glacial. "I won't stop you."
Hester's hands balled into tight fists at her sides. She took a deep breath, forcing her surging emotions back down. "You don't need to provoke me."
Hearing this, Julian arched a brow.
"I'm still insisting on this divorce. But for Bella's sake, I'll temporarily play along and keep it a secret. Once she's recovered from the surgery, I'll find the right moment to tell her myself."
Julian's briefly softened expression morphed into an ugly scowl at her words. "I already told you, I am not agreeing to a divorce."
"You're a cheating bastard. Just because you say 'no divorce,' I'm supposed to fall in line?"
Hester let out a chilling laugh, tears welling up in her furious eyes as she glared at him.
"Julian, I am telling you this for the absolute last time. If you cooperate, we can just file the papers quietly. Think of it as parting amicably for Bella's sake. But if you refuse, then I will see you in court."
Having said her piece, Hester didn't bother wasting another second on him. She turned on her heel and walked away.
Her slender silhouette radiated an immovable resolve. Julian stared intensely at her retreating back, his brow locking into a fierce frown.
...
As soon as Hester stepped off the elevator, she spotted two dreadfully familiar figures down the hall. It was Julian's stepmother, Livia, and his younger half-sister, Chloe Weston.
Before Julian took the helm as the CEO of Weston Corp, Livia had done everything in her power to sabotage and scheme against him, both openly and in the shadows. Later, when Hester firmly aligned herself with Julian, Livia happily painted a target on Hester's back, too.
