Hester was speechless. *As expected of a top-tier director in the entertainment industry—she's incredibly open-minded!*
Chiara casually steered the wheel. "As for marriage, I honestly think that for financially independent women like us, it's just not that important anymore."
"I completely agree with that," Hester said, her eyes softening. "Marriage is just a massive gamble. Not everyone needs to play the game."
Chiara gave her a warm smile. "We both know exactly what we want out of life. That's all that matters."
Hester looked out the window at the clear blue sky. She was right. Knowing what you wanted was enough.

When they arrived at the restaurant, they booked a private room so they could talk freely. Once the seafood was served and the waiter left, Chiara brought up the elephant in the room.
"So, what are you going to do about Seraphina showing up?"
"Besides finding her incredibly annoying? Nothing." Hester picked up her glass of lemon water and took a sip. Setting it down, she looked at Chiara. "She wants to replace me as Mrs. Weston. Naturally, she can't stand the thought of Julian and me spending time together. She followed him here out of pure insecurity. She's testing the waters."
"Testing the waters?" Chiara frowned. "Testing who?"
"Julian, of course," Hester scoffed coldly. "In her mind, the way Julian protects her is proof of his love. She thinks he genuinely wants her, and I'm just the obstacle standing in her way."
"She really thinks highly of herself." Chiara rolled her eyes. "Even if you two do sign the divorce papers, there is no way Julian would ever actually get with her! I'm not saying Julian is some paragon of loyalty, I just think his standards aren't low enough to scrape the bottom of the barrel."
"You never know," Hester smirked. "Maybe he's into that."
Chiara looked thoroughly grossed out. "Julian? ...No way."
"That's his problem, not mine." Hester picked up a piece of diced beef with her silverware. "Let's not talk about them while we're eating. It ruins my appetite."
"...Fair enough. This fish soup is incredible, let me get you a bowl. You need to eat more."
"Thanks."
