Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 42

Because of this, Hester caught the evidence so effortlessly.

In short, the battle was won cleanly and decisively, perfectly aligning with Hester's plans.

...

On the fourth day, the company's operations had essentially returned to normal.

At ten in the morning, Hester wrapped up the first executive meeting since the company's massive restructuring.

Stepping out of the conference room, she took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Her mind and body felt incredibly light. After five long years, she had finally found herself again. The vibrant, confident woman she used to be. The agonizing pain of the past seemed to be slowly fading from her life, piece by piece.

She looked down, her hand gently resting on her stomach. Now, all that was left was to finalize the divorce with Julian.

Once the papers were signed, she could take her unborn baby and leave the country.

...

Hester walked into her office.

Gael followed closely behind and shut the door. "I just got word. Melody's been bailed out."

Hester's footsteps paused halfway to her desk. She turned to look at Gael, her expression entirely placid. "It was Julian, wasn't it?"

"How are you so calm?" Gael's face was grim. "Julian is hellbent on protecting her. I think pinning those charges on Melody just got a lot more complicated."

"I figured as much," Hester said coldly. "Julian will use every resource at his disposal to shield her from the embezzlement charges. He'll probably use all his shares to negotiate with me. As for the bigamy charge, since little Caden isn't biologically his and Melody's, we only have those videos and audio recordings as supporting evidence. We'll have to ask Jasper what our actual chances of winning are."
