“Screech!”
The white Panamera hadn't gone far from the estate when it suddenly slammed on the brakes!
The second the car stopped, the driver's side door flew open. Hester stumbled out, clutching her mouth, and threw up by the side of the road.
The black Phantom slammed on its brakes right behind her. Julian unbuckled his seatbelt, throwing the door open while quickly instructing Caden in the backseat. "Caden, sit quietly and don't move."
"I'll be good, Daddy! Go check on the pretty lady, she looks really sick!"
Julian acknowledged him, stepped out, and shut the door. He grabbed a bottle of water from the trunk, walked over to her, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to her.
Hester froze for a second, but reached out and took it anyway. After rinsing her mouth, she gave a terse, "Thanks."
She had been dealing with mild morning sickness the past few days. It wasn't entirely debilitating, but every couple of days she would suddenly throw up, or strong smells would make her deeply nauseous.
Now that she had emptied her stomach, she felt much better. She had no desire to linger around Julian. With a cold expression, she turned to get back into her car.
Julian reached out and seized her wrist.
"Don't touch me! Let go!" Hester struggled in absolute disgust, but Julian was far too strong; she was no match for him.
Julian's gaze swept down to her flat stomach before snapping back up to her face. He frowned, his Adam's apple bobbing as he asked in a low voice, "Hester, tell me the truth. Are you pregnant?"
Hester's breath hitched. But she quickly masked it, her face twisting in anger. "Are you done, Julian? I told you I'm not pregnant, and even if I was, I'd terminate the pregnancy!"
"I don't believe you." Julian stared at her relentlessly, refusing to miss even the slightest shift in her expression. "I've been thinking about it. Your symptoms right now are exactly the same as when you were pregnant with the twins."
"How dare you bring them up!" Hester glared at him with pure hatred. "You have no right to talk about them, and you have lost the right to ever be the father of my children! Let me go! Let me go—"
