Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 47

With that, Hester turned and got into her car. The door slammed shut. The engine roared to life, and the white car sped down the mountain road.

Julian's eyes stayed locked on the fading silhouette of the car.

After a long moment, he pulled out his phone and dialed Neil's number. "Check the hospital records. Fast."

...

At 6:30 PM, Stellamare Villa.

The doorbell rang, and Lena hurried over to open it.

Standing on the porch was Melody, dressed impeccably in a designer dress, wearing a gracious, elegant smile. "Hello. I'm here to pick up Caden and bring him home."

Lena was dumbfounded. Bring Caden home? Could it be...

"Mommy!"

Before Lena could even process the shock, Caden came sprinting out of the living room, throwing his arms wide open to hug Melody.

Melody wrapped her arms around Caden's small frame, affectionately ruffling his hair. Her red lips curved up into a tender smile. "Did you miss Mommy, Caden?"

"Of course I missed you, Mommy! But Daddy said you were super busy with work, and told me I had to be good and not bother you."

"You're such a good boy." Melody took Caden's hand and looked up at the housekeeper. "You must be Lena, right? Julian mentioned you. He said you're incredibly attentive and kind. Caden hasn't been a burden these past few days, has he?"

"N-no, not at all. He is very well-behaved," Lena replied awkwardly.

Caden was actually Mr. Weston's child with this woman?! So, he went behind his wife's back, had a child with his mistress, and then brought the kid home claiming he was adopted?!

What kind of sick joke was this?! No wonder Mrs. Weston was so furious she packed up and left! Who could possibly endure something like that?! This was just blatant humiliation!

Lena cursed them silently in her head, but she didn't forget that she was just a live-in maid. She could enjoy the gossip, but she didn't dare speak out of turn.

"Um, Mr. Weston isn't home yet." Lena looked at Melody, forcing a polite smile. "Are you taking Caden with you now?"

Melody raised a delicate brow. "Is that going to be a problem, Lena?"

"Right away." Lena stepped forward, crouched in front of Melody, and kept her head down, practically rolling her eyes into the back of her skull as she slipped the shoes onto the woman's feet.

"Thank you."

Lena stood up, holding Melody's stilettos, and plastered on a flawless, professional smile. "You're very welcome."

With that, Lena turned and headed back toward the entryway. She grumbled furiously in her head: *This woman is absolute trash compared to Mrs. Weston. Mr. Weston must be out of his mind!*

Melody watched Lena's retreating back with cold eyes, a look of pure contempt tugging at the corners of her mouth.

Then, she looked down at Caden, gently stroking his hair, her voice dripping with sweetness. "Caden, call Daddy and ask him what time he's coming home."

"Okay!" Caden nodded obediently, pulling up Julian's number on his smartwatch.
