Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 48

A couple of days ago, Gael had reached out to an elite agency and found Hester a top-tier housekeeper. A single woman in her forties, everyone simply called her Celeste.

Celeste was a phenomenal cook, and upon learning of Hester's pregnancy, she meticulously curated health-boosting meals specifically for her.

Hester's appetite had been terrible lately. While her morning sickness wasn't completely unmanageable, her lethargy and nausea were definitely taking a toll.

Noticing this, Celeste shifted her approach over the past few evenings. She made light soups and delicate, nutritious dishes with fresh greens and lean proteins.

Thanks to the attentive care of such a dedicated professional, Hester found herself able to eat just a little bit more at every meal.

At the dining table, Gael and Hester sat across from each other.

Suddenly, the screen of the phone resting on the table lit up. Hester paused and set down her silverware. She picked up the phone.

It was a message from Melody.

Hester hadn't blocked her yet because she knew exactly how a home-wrecking opportunist who climbed the ranks through dirty tactics operated—they thrived on continuously taunting the original wife. Melody fit the profile perfectly.

Hester tapped on the video Melody had sent. In the frame, Julian was sitting at the dining table. Next to him, Caden was holding his child-sized fork, obediently eating his dinner.

"Caden, do you like this house better, or the one we usually live in?" Melody's voice drifted through the speaker.

"They're both big and pretty! Hmm... as long as I get to live with Mommy and Daddy, I love them both!"

"Aren't you just the sweetest thing? Then let's stay here tonight, okay?"

"Yay!"

The video ended.

The recordings she had acquired from Silverstream Villa, combined with what Melody had just sent her, were more than enough. If things really had to get ugly in court, the signed agreement plus this mountain of evidence would easily secure a judge's ruling in her favor!

Hester put her phone down and looked at Gael. "We can initiate the final phase against Melody now."

Hearing this, Gael instantly lit up.

Girls like Melody, who clawed their way out of impoverished mountain towns, had every opportunity to change their fate through education and hard work. But she actively chose to spread her legs and fight for a man's favor instead.

The most sickening part was her total lack of gratitude. Melody had completely conveniently forgotten that Hester was the one who personally paved her way out of those mountains and into Northwood City!

"I have been waiting for this!" Gael practically snapped her fork in half at the mention of the woman. "That backstabbing piece of trash. Every day she breathes freely is a day that makes my skin crawl!"

Hester casually took a bite of her salad, her voice completely flat. "It's fine. The higher they put her on a pedestal now, the harder she's going to shatter when she hits the ground."
