Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 94

Declan set his medical bag on the table and popped it open. "With this much blood, the stitches definitely tore. I told you to rest for a couple of days, but you wouldn't listen. Maybe having to endure getting restitched will finally teach you a lesson."

Julian ignored him, simply leaning back against the sofa and closing his eyes. His complexion was noticeably paler than usual, a fine sheen of cold sweat dusting his forehead.

Declan shot him a look. Knowing how much pain he was in, he clamped his mouth shut and stopped teasing him.

He removed the ruined gauze, exposing a six-inch knife wound across Julian’s abdomen. The sutures were a chaotic, broken mess, the original edges of the wound blurred by fresh blood.

Even Declan, who had spent five years on the frontlines as a peacekeeper, sucked in a sharp breath.

An injury of this magnitude required IV antibiotics after suturing, followed by strict bed rest. But last night, Julian had taken a single shot of antibiotics, gotten stitched up, and acted like absolutely nothing happened. How was this any different from having a death wish?

Declan sighed heavily. "Sabrina mentioned Hester asked for a divorce?"

Julian kept his eyes closed and gave a faint nod.

Declan paused his prep work and glanced up at him. "I accidentally let it slip to Sabrina that you were hurt."

At that, Julian slowly opened his eyes. "What else did you say?"

"Nothing else." Declan gave a helpless laugh. "That girl tried to interrogate me, but as soon as I told her to ask you directly, she chickened out. Julian, you really have terrible PR."

Julian closed his eyes again.

Seeing this, Declan looked down and focused on the delicate work of re-suturing the wound.
