Chapter 133 Beast Forest
Chapter 133 Beast Forest
This was the fifth batch shed messed up that night.
Even though she’d scored those herbs for cheap a while back, she couldn’t keep burning throughr supplies like this.
“No way,” Riley muttered, stubborn as ever. She was just about to start a sixth attempt when an idea hit her.
She opened their group chat-“Hustle Crew”.
“SpicyBurger: @TartKing, you around? Need some expert advice.”

“TartKing: Right here, boss! Just pulled a sheet of sugar cookies out of the oven, was gonna bring ’em over! What’s up?”
“SpicyBurger: Is there some kind of secret to this potion-making stuff? I follow the instructions step by step, but it always turns into toxic sludge.”
Riley attached a photo of the latest lump of black, tarry goo.
The chat went quiet for a solid few seconds.
“PineappleBeer: What is that? Road tar? You paving a driveway?”
“TartKing: Well… I’ve never actually brewed potions before. But I just skimmed the recipe guide, and honestly? It kinda feels like making soup.”
“SpicyBurger: Soup?”
“TartKing: Yeah! Look-the herb is basically like spinach, and Silverleaf is close to parsley. The medicinal stuff in the herbs is like the flavor in broth. Crank the heat too high, and it evaporates; stir too hard, and everything turns to mush. You gotta keep it low and slow, let the goodness seep out…”
TartKing went on a whole tangent about “heat management” and “ingredient harmony”.
Riley didn’t catch every detail, but it sounded legit.
Different skills for different folks.
Some things just came down to natural knack.
Hers was all in “hitting things hard” and “building stuff”. This delicate, fussy work? Not her style at all.
Riley let out a’long sigh and made a decision.
She pulled up the trade window, bundled together that bulky “Beginner’s Alchemy Bench” along with all the leftover herbs clogging her inventory, and sent the offer through.
“System Alert: You have initiated a direct trade with ‘TartKing”.”
“Tartking: ??? Boss, what’s all this?”
“SpicyBurger: Give it a shot. This thing and I just don’t click. Since you’ve got the whole cooking thing down, potion-making might

be up your alley. No pressure-plenty of herbs to practice with. If it doesn’t work out, just send it back.”
On the other end of the screen, Tartking was clearly stunned by the sudden windfall
A full alchemy set!
“TartKing: Whoa… Boss, you’re way too good to me’ll give it my best shot! Won’t let the team down!”

Ten minutes later.
“TartKing sent a picture.”
The photo showed a small bottle filled with crystal-clear red liquid.
“Tartking: It worked!! Boss, this set is so smooth to use! Oh, and get this-if you add a pinch of mint leaf to a healing potion, the healing amount stays the same, but it tastes refreshing and gives a +1 spirit boost!”
Riley, stared at the flawless potion in the picture, then glanced at the lump of black goo still sitting on her own table.
So that’s what talent looks like.
But honestly, she felt more relieved than jealous.
“SpicyBurger: Great job. From now on, I’ll forward all the herbs your way. You’re in charge of our potion supply.”
“TartKing: You got it! For this dungeon run, we’ll be swimming in potions! We can drink ’em like soda!”
With the supply issue handled, Riley felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
She cleaned up the messy workstation, then headed to the bathroom to scrub the dark smudges off her face.
When she returned to the bedroom, Neeko was already asleep, curled up beside the bed.
The little one was still clutching her tablet, the end credits of some cartoon rolling silently on the screen. A thin line of drool had escaped the corner of her mouth-probably dreaming about barbecue,
Riley gently pried the tablet loose, scooped Neeko up, and tucked her into bed.
୮
Even though Neeko hadn’t shifted back to her cat form, the upgraded bed was more than spacious enough for both of them.
“Big day tomorrow…”
Riley sat on the edge of the mattress, gazing out into the pitch-black night.
She did one last mental check of her inventory.
Weapons at full durability, plenty of rations stocked, generator humming at full capacity.
Everything was set.
“Night, Neeko.”
