He placed his hand on Adriana’s soft, growing belly, and a rush of emotion filled his chest.

If nothing changed, he probably wouldn’t be around when the baby was born.

Once everything was wrapped up, he would need to vanish for a while. It was the only way to keep Adriana and the baby safe.

Denton had planned to take Yolanda and Lily to a casual cajun boil place, but Yolanda had other ideas. She brought them to a swanky steakhouse instead.

“Get whatever you want. I’ve got it,” Yolanda said, flashing a grin.

Denton’s ears turned red as he gave a small nod.

“Denton, my stomach’s acting up. Can you take me home?” Lily asked gently, trying to get some alone time with him. She didn’t want to share a dinner table with Yolanda.

Yolanda had been stepping on her toes from the moment they walked in. Lily had tried to sit beside Denton, but Yolanda swooped in first, leaving Lily stuck across the table, fuming.

Yolanda’s eyes lit up. “Your stomach hurts? Then we’ve gotta go to the hospital. Right now. This calls for a checkup!”

She wasn’t just being nice. She wanted answers. She wanted to know if Lily really had HIV.

Lily went stiff. Her face turned pale. “N–no, it’s really nothing. I just feel a little off. If I get some rest, I’ll be okay.”

Yolanda gave her a too–bright smile. “Nope. Could be anything. What if it’s something serious, like a tumor? Can’t let that slide. Let’s go. Right now.” She stood and reached for Lily like she meant to pull her out of the booth.

Lily’s eyes went wide. She looked at Denton, practically begging. “Denton, I swear, I don’t need a doctor. I’m fine.”

Denton blinked. He had no idea what Yolanda was trying to pull.

Denton nodded fast, looking like a scared puppy He stood up right away. “Lily, come on. We’ll take you to the hospital.”

Lily’s face scrunched like she was about to cry. “I told you I’m fine! I know my own body! I don’t need to see anyone. You don’t have to come. I’ll go by myself.”

She bolted out, looking embarrassed and furious.

Yolanda narrowed her eyes. That much panic over a hospital? Yeah, something was definitely

wrong.

Denton looked toward the door, unsure if he should follow, but Yolanda reached out and yanked his sleeve.

She gave him a sharp look and said, “Sit your ass down.”

Denton dropped into his seat, stiff and awkward, eyes locked on her nervously.

“You’re an adult now. If you’re thinking about sleeping with someone, it has to start with trust. Both of you need to be healthy. No infections. No diseases. That’s the bare minimum You need to take responsibility for your own body and theirs,” Yolanda said, her tone flat bu direct.

Denton’s ears went red. What was she even talking about? Was she … hitting on him? He couldn’t help feeling flustered.

“I’m healthy. I’ve never dated anyone,” he said fast, looking serious.

Yolanda nodded. The kid was shockingly pure. “If you’re sure about your health, then keep it that way. You don’t know anything about that Lily girl. Don’t just assume she’s clean. Don’t risk it.”

Denton froze. It finally clicked. She was warning him about Lily the entire time.

His face heated up again. He stared at Yolanda. Was this jealousy? Was she trying to keep him away from Lily? “I’m not the type to hook up just because I can,” he muttered.

Yolanda gave a nod of approval. Then she added. “And no kissing either. You can still catch something that way.”

Denton nodded again.

Yolanda slid the menu over to him. “Alright. Since you’ve been so good about it, lunch is on

me.”

Lily slipped out of the restaurant and quickly called Savannah.

“Ms. Feron, there’s a woman named Yolanda always hovering around Denton. Every time I try to be alone with him, she cuts in. She clearly doesn’t like me. I can’t even get near him anymore, let alone get closer,” Lily whispered.

Savannah’s tone turned sharp. Adriana and Yolanda were nothing but parasites. They needed to be removed.

“Don’t worry. Their little winning streak’s almost over,” Savannah said through clenched teeth.

Once Langford Group drained Curtis‘ inheritance and Danielle’s team took him out, there wouldn’t be anything left for Adriana and Yolanda to hide behind.

They’d lose every inch of leverage and fall hard.

“Just hold your ground. Don’t rush it. Denton’s not an idiot. If you push too fast, it’ll scare him off,” Savannah said again.

“Alright…”

Lily let out a heavy breath and sat on the bench nearby. The tears came before she could stop them, falling down her cheeks one after another.
